Hard working little pump.

I bought this to use for my home emergency water supply. If the incoming water supply fails, this little pump will take over automatically. I set the pressure kick in switch a few pounds under the utility supply so it will be fully automatic upon a source failure. It works like a charm. It's nice to have toilets that fill and showers that work if you lose your utility water supply, which has happened to us 3 times in the last year.PROS: Very reliable and works every time without fail. Flow is sufficient to supply the shower, but forget filling a tub with it. The adjustable pressure switch makes it very easy to integrate into an automatic fail safe system. Hookup is super easy with the pipethread to hose bib adapters you can get at any hardware store. It can run dry without hurting it. It is self priming. It is available in 12VDC, 24VDC or 110VAC, just about anything you could be using for mobile or emergency battery use.CONS: The diaphragms are a bit noisy, but in some ways that is good because you know when it is running. If you let it run for a long period of time, like trying to fill a bathtub, it gets very hot. The built in thermal will cut it off before damage occurs. A fin kit for cooling is available, but costs extra.SUMMARY: A very good pump at a reasonable price. Small enough to fit on the top of a 55 gallon barrel of water and pulls very little current. I run it off my emergency power inverter and it works perfectly. If you are serious about emergency preparedness, then you need an emergency water supply setup, and this is the perfect pump for the job.

Great things come in small packages!

We live off the grid and set up a water system where this little pump pumps water from our 2500 gallon storage tank into our 60 gallon pressure tank. It comes on at 15 psi and shuts off at 45 psi. It only uses barely 100 watts, so doesn't run our batteries dry when the sun's not shining. We had our first one fail us after 3 years of use several times per day. Our second one malfunctioned within the 2nd week of installation, but since it is so simple to take apart/put together, we just made one good one from the two bad ones and bought a 3rd as a spare. They're cheap and they're just what we need. Simple to install too.

SHURflo is the de facto standard in these little pressure control pumps. They are rugged, reliable and cost effective. We have several of them. We are pushing water through a couple amazing instant-on water heaters with great success. Cannot imagine anyone going wrong with these pumps.
