Lights

This is a very pretty light, but will comment it is pretty heavy. Actually started pulling the electric box out of the ceiling and had to reenforce. Would be helpful for the weight to be listed as part of the purchasing information. Adds to our family room.

natural mica collection iron ceiling light fixture

Great for the money. The mica is natural, but is multiple pieces formed together in what looks like a resin. It looks pretty much in person as it does on line. I was looking for a more amber color mica, this is more like parchment color. It was easy to install and looks great up. I am happy with this purchase and this line of lighting. I also bought the flush mount. I placed them in the upper hallways on my second floor. They give off great light. I am using the energy efficient light bulbs 3 x 60 watts in this semi flush mount and 3 x 40 watts int he flush mount.

Nice for deep space objects

I bought this eyepiece for F5 12" Dob. It gives 217x but the same field of view as a standard Plossl at ~140x. Field is sharp throughout. No astigmatism.The eyepiece is easy to use with no blackouts. The eye-relief is reasonable but not huge. You won't see the full field if wearing glasses. Eye-cup is somewhat low and so you can get reflections if observing from a poor location with a bright light nearby. The eyepiece performs very well on deep space objects such as planetary nebulae or globular clusters. I find it's not so hot on planets: the contrast around Jupiter is poor compared to, say, a Radian. I have found this to be the case with other Naglers also, such as the 31mm. As a deep space eyepiece this thing definitely gets 5 stars. For planets you might want to consider something else.After a year of owning this eyepiece, I'd like to update my review. I have found that some of the contrast loss on planets seems to be a funny interaction with my eye and the eye-lens. There were weird back-reflections going on and different observers may well not have this problem (am rather myopic). I have tried this eyepiece on Jupiter with an 18" f/4 and found that it performed very well indeed at 300x when the seeing will support this. Back-reflections are gone with this scope.

Maybe the best eyepiece ever

If you're looking for an eyepiece with long eye relief, a HUGE field of view and some serious magnification, it is pretty much impossible to beat this eyepiece. Views are tack sharp from edge to edge and the apparent field of view is spectacular. I don't know how Al Nagler did it, but I suspect that at least 1 of the 3 pounds of this eyepiece is from the weight of pixie dust.I know this is an expensive eyepiece, but if you get it, you really only need a wide-field eyepiece to compliment it. You won't want to look through anything else after looking through this one. It's that good.

Excellent Screen - just what I was looking for

This screen was high quality, easy to set up, and looks great with my new projector. Definitely get two people on the install (I did it by myself but would have been easier with a second set of hands). Frame snaps together and screen snaps in place quite easily. Looks perfect on the wall. Although I bought this at Amazon, the folks at Best Buy tried to upsell me on a much more expensive screen and frankly I couldn't tell the difference. Can't go wrong with this one!

Wide field low power eyepiece

If you're looking for a quality wide field low power eyepiece, and you can use 2" eyepieces, this is one of three you should consider. The others are the Pentax 40mm XW and the TMB 40mm Paragon.Televue eyepieces provide a warm tone to things you're observing. The effect is not unlike adding an 81a or 81b filter. Some like this, others don't.The 68 degree afov gives you a nice wide field of view, and this type of eyepiece is the one to choose for looking at something like the Veil nebula, or the Andromeda galaxy.The 41 Panoptic has a little lateral color, but not enough to be objectionable.The main drawbacks are weight (33.6 ounces) and pincushion. Pincushion is typical in a wide field eyepiece because it's impossible to correct for every kind of flaw at once. You'll end up with some pincushion, or angular distortion with any wide field eyepiece.For daytime observing, Pincushion would drive you bonkers because lines aren't straight. It'll also make the Moon look like an egg if you put it near the edge of the field of view - but odds are you wouldn't be using this eyepiece for looking at the Moon, and if you centered it, it would look fine. Few people notice pincushion on star fields.After comparing the 41 Panoptic to the 40 Paragon, I decided to sell the Panoptic and keep the Paragon. It's much lighter, half the price, and I prefer the more natural color rendition, and I'm happy to trade a little angular distortion to eliminate pincushion so I can use it for daytime nature viewing.But my advice is if you can, get to a star party, and observe with all three of the eyepieces I mentioned because different people will like different products, and all of them are well made quality products.

24 Pan

The 24 mm Panoptic is a great piece of glass. Wonderful views in my 8" Newtonian reflector (xt8i) and my 60mm Meade refractor. It has excellent build quality as expected from a TeleVue product. It is an upgrade from Meade 4000 series plossls. I chose this one over the Meade super wide, because I plan to keep it forever and figured the additional cost was worth it in the long run. Although Explore Scientific has come out with a 68deg line which might have changed my mind if it was available at the time I purchased this.Pros:-Made by TeleVue one of the best companies in the business-Great build quality-Widely recognized as one of if not the best 68deg 24mm eyepiece out thereCons:-You pay a premium for excellence-significantly more expensive than the second best.-It is on the heavier side, but shouldn't be a problem for most scopes.

Caution on Da-Lite models

I love these Da-Lite folding easels. You can fold them down to sit on a table or open up fully. All models have little fold-out holders at different heights to accommodate whiteboard or other display data. If you get the crossbar model, you can hang flip charts, or charts that might not stand well on the stands. They're light weight and store nicely went not being used. One caution, though, about the way people advertise these. They always show you the three-easel picture from Da-Lite's web site, but you can't see the tiny numbers in the picture. ONLY the D305 comes with the top crossbar in the picture. If they're advertising a stock number beginning with "H", it doesn't have the crossbar.

Awesome! Mid to high mag eyepiece no distortion very wide field of view

This eyepiece is in a whole separate category than all my other eyepieces, this being the first Televue eyepiece I now own. The 82 degree apparent field of view at 17mm is really something to behold. Due to it's high enough magnification, wide field of view and very well put together optics without any distortion across the entire field of view. I prefer using this eyepiece for teasing out details on planets than my higher range 1.25" eyepieces (12mm and 9mm). I've used this eyepiece to study the Cassini Division in Saturn's rings. It is also low enough in power and wide enough in FOV to look at some of the faint fuzzies as well. I first used this eyepiece to look at the full moon through my 150mm iOptron Mak which is an F12, which meant I was looking a full moon at 105.88 power or 106X, the entire moon fit within the viewing field and I had a decent amount of room to spare! My other conventional/normal eyepieces can fit the full moon until about 90X with no room to spare as a comparison. This eyepiece really performs at a whole other level. Then I pointed my telescope at Jupiter and the viewing was so ridiculously good that I almost broke out in laughter. Not only could I see a bunch of detail on a Jupiter at that level of magnification, but I could also see all four gallean moons and other background stars around the Jupiter system, I think Ganymede was about as far from Jupiter as it gets. It reminded me of footage I had seen on the "Discovery" or "Science" channel about the Voyager Program, it was really something to look at. And yes I had to move my eye around to take in all of pretty objects in the viewing field. These eyepieces are heavier than the other 2" eyepieces I have, I guess it is due to the amount of glass elements used to produce the wide views. But my mount was sturdy enough to handle the additional load, so I'm really very happy with it and will research getting another one of these perhaps a 31mm. If astonomy is a long-term hobby for you then I strongly recommend owning at least one of these Televue eyepieces.

Superb

One of the best eyepieces I have ever had the pleasure of using. Pinpoint stars to the very edge of the field of view, no distortion of any kind that I could detect. Pincushion distortion might be able to be detected in a test bench environment, but I could not detect it during normal viewing sessions. I love this eyepiece.

Great for the price!

A little confusing to figure it out at first, but then it's a breeze. Wish they had the carry case for this size, but I couldn't find it. Anyway, it's really large, so it would probably not matter that much. The kids love to watch movies on this. You can adjust the height of the screen up and down, and also make the screen shorter or taller. It opens by pulling up, not down, but not a problem. Overall great product.

it is a two persons' job to pack

The screen was built with fair workmanship. There are some sharp edges on the tripot legs which is easy to fix with a small file. When I opened the box there was a strong petroleum smell which I had to air out in the garrage. I also removed a few black stains using a dampened paper towel. Setting up is getting easier after a few practices. But when it is time to pack up it is better to do with two people. The spring is designed to stop at intervals so when it stops the screen could be damaged by accidently creased. So if you have an assistant to help you hold the bottom frame while you hold the top bar and gently lowering it in continuous motion it would be more of a success.

First, this is an absolutely superb eyepiece in the Tele-Vue/Al Nagler tradition. Its best qualities are its outstanding edge-to-edge sharpness, color rendition in the 80+ FOV range, and its compact size and light weight. It's negative qualities are the (claimed) 10-mm eye relief is not (eyeglass users simply cannot use this eyepiece)and it's a little uncomfortable to use (for me--a non-eyeglass user)when observing with my antique UNITRONS);its' rubber eyecup should be made bigger with a larger lens cap. Its' $300.+ price tag (new) is very steep.
