The good, the bad, and the lacky from "Santa Claus"

I still like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" a bit more than "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" when it comes to Animagic Christmas specials, and that is because the former has the Island of Misfit Toys ruled by the wise and kindly King Moonracer. Inspired in the loosest sense of the word by the J. Fred Coots' song "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town," the 1970 Christmas special tells a new version of the origin of Santa Claus. An abandoned baby is adopted by the Kringles, a family of elves living in Rainbow Valley who are the first toy makers to the king. Tanta Kringle names the child Kris and one day he visits Sombertown, where giving toys to children is against the law.In this "Santa Claus is Comin' To Town" action trio we have the kindly Tanta Kringle (voiced by Joan Gardner), the mean Burgermeister Meisterburger (voiced by Paul Frees), and his henchman Grimsley (also voiced by Frees). Tanta has the most accessories, including the abandoned baby with his big blue eyes and his medallion saying "Claus," a toy soldier, a giant yo-yo, and the proclamation naming the Kringles the first toy maker to the king. The frowning Burgermeister has a turkey leg, a cane, and his wheelchair, while has his sword and the giant proclamation making it illegal and unlawful to distribute toys to children in Sombertown. All three (and the baby for that matter) have great expressions on their faces, but the array of accessories are equally impressive.There is a companion set of figures that will give you Miss Jessica, Kris Kringle, and Topper, and then there are separate sets with Winter and then the Deluxe Mail Vehicle with the mailman. Get the four and them and you have all of the main characters covered to scale. Playing Mantis does the "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" figures as well as these from "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and "Peanuts" figures for all of your holiday occasions.

Gimme the toys

My mom liked the cartoon, so I got this for her for Christmas to set out with her other Christmas decorations. I would not recomend this for very young children who still put everything in their mouths because there are small pieces that present a choking hazard. But these are very detailed toys and are quite niffty.

The legendary Burgermeister Meisterburger, and more!

Rankin/Bass's most imaginative stop-motion animagic classic (though Rudolph is my fave, making this one # 2) , "Santa Claus is Comin' To Town," comes to life in this new series of brilliant action figures from Playing Mantis's Memory Lane toy line. It's the magical story of how Santa Claus came to be the beloved legend that he is, and the best telling at that. This action figure trio from the 1970 Christmas special is Burgermeister Meisterburger, Tanta Kringle, and Grimsley. The Burgermeister was the evil ruler of Sombertown, who outlawed toys and did his best to capture good hearted Kris Kringle, the man who would be Claus! Tanta Kringle is the sweet old woman who raised Kris with the help of her family of elves. Grimsley is the bootlicking soldier lackey of Burgermeister Meisterburger. The three are perfect likenesses of their TV images, with amazing detail and nice articulation. Their equally well detailed and accurate accessories include baby Santa Claus in his blanket and sled with the Claus necklace around his neck, a Kringle History book and rose for Tanta Kringle, Burgermeister's wheelchair, foot cast, hat, cane, apron, turkey leg, and yo-yo, and a removable helmet, sword, sheath, toy soldier, and proclamation for Grimsley.The detail and accuracy in this toy line is stunning, as one has come to expect from Playing Mantis. Their Rudolph figures, which I have also been collecting, are equally spectacular, as are their Peanuts toys (which I am gathering in scattered doses, but they seem to be the hardest to get at the post Christmas sales). I was also pleased, for the most part, with the Mickey's Christmas Carol line they began, though I'd like to see some attention returned to that one in the future, especially since I'm a huge Disney/Scrooge McDuck/Dickens' Christmas Carol fan. I also hope to see some Frosty the Snowman, Frosty's Winter Wonderland, Rudolph's Shiny New Year, Twas the Night Before Christmas, Here Comes Peter Cottontail, and Mad Monster Party action figures in the future, but I digress. These "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" toys have been long hoped for by me, and I'm so happy to have them! They're masterfully done! Thanks a bunch, Playing Mantis!

Great idea

The reason I selected this particular product was because my wife had visited the Holy Land and regretted not getting a olive wood nativity set. The characters are just as I imagined they would be. Each has a full featured face and folded hands and other intricate carvings distinguishing them from the other pieces. My mother-in-law even noted that Joseph's eyes twinkled (which tickled my wife). The problem is that this is a delicate set-up (it's carved wood, after all). I received the produce in a timely manner but en route it had snapped in half and had other pieces broken off, as well. As soon as I get done with this review, my wife has directed me to go to the local do-it-yourself center to buy some wood glue to glue the pieces back together. Except for the broken part(s), it really is a great gift idea and my wife really liked it. Really, really.

Exquisite Workmanship

I purchased this as a gift. The person who received this was overwhelmed. They had always wanted an olive wood hand-carved Nativity from the Holy Land. The set is much more beautiful than shown in the picture. The facial features on the figures are very detailed. This will be a cherished heirloom.

Blaine: surf legend

I first met Blaine about five years ago. I was at Cali Beach with my then girlfriend, Barbie. It was a hot day, so i was rubbing sunblock on her back. Suddenly, a shadow was cast over us. It was Blaine. He told me that losers like us weren't allowed on his beach, and that this was his "turf." He then kicked sand into my face. I did what any man would do in that situation, I challenged him to a surf off. "Noon tomorrow," he said as he laughed and ran his hand through his hair.I didn't sleep a wink that night. All I could think about was how much i wanted to win. Needed to win.When we arrived at the beach it was packed. But all i could see is Blaine and my board. "Let's end this." I said. He smirked and replied "Ladies first." I grabbed my board and jogged into the ocean. The sound of crashing waves somehow calmed me. I caught my first wave only a few minutes in, but it was nothing special. I needed to wait for the big one if I had any chance of beating him. It took what seemed like forever before it came. I heard it first, like a thunderous fist it slammed into me. It dragged me under the water. I almost drowned. When i awoke I was on the beach again, coughing up water. Blaine was there, laughing, with his arm around my girlfriend. They left together and I haven't seen either one of them since.Everyday I relive that pain and I wait for my revenge.

I really dont know how the whole soap opera saga is going between Ken and Barbie since I played with them last myself 30 years ago or so, but I bought this guy Blaine for my 3 1/2 year old as a substitute to "Julian" from Princess and the Pauper-I bought both girls for Christmas each an Anneilese and Erika doll and also purchased the wedding clothes for Ken and the Queen and Princess. My 5 year old was given the Ken from Swan Lake (blonde)last year for her birthday-he resembled Julian and both my girls previously had Ken as "King Dominic" but my little one did not have a "Julian" the Swan Lake Blonde Ken was no longer available, so I got her Blaine. He worked out just fine except for the fact that this guy is expressionless-no smile or smirk for Blaine??? At least Ken has a smile on his face-looks like from Blaine's sullen expression that he ate too many of those power bars that he was supplied with in the box.My daughter asked why her "Julian"(Blaine) did not look like her sisters "Julian"???? I told her, "Julian was tutoring Anneilese all day in the courtyard on a very sunny day and forgot his sunscreen." It didn't fool her-but she is just fine with Blaine.

Blaine rules Ken drools!

I think everyone is taking this a little too personal. It's fiction not real life folks so live with it. I have both ken dolls and the first one is boring, bland, and same so. Blaine has more advanced features and is much cooler and cuter than the cheap looking ken doll. Worth the buy, but i would wait till he is on sale.

I'm so impressed!

My 4 1/2 year old received this as a gift from his grandparents. He had been asking for a puppet theatre for a long time. I am so impressed with the quality and the details of this product. It is attractive and well made.My son likes to "practice" his show with the curtains closed, and then open the curtains to perform for his audience.I highly reccomend this puppet theatre for any children who enjoy performing.

Christmas with a capital "C" for cool!!

I purchased this for my three year old son for Christmas 08'. I read the reviews and allowed for the "three" hours claimed to be needed to put it together in another review. It took fourty five minutes to assemble. All of the hardware was included and the instructions were average at best. Pictures and some upside down holding, along with some common sense and fourty five minutes later we have a great little pedal car.Yes I agree, the pedal system is not set up like a bike. It is not tall enough for the rotation of the pedals. It is more of a weight shifting pushing pedal than a circular rotation. It takes some effort, and the turn radius is lacking. But this is an old fashion pedal car, remember that when considering petite youngsters. My three year old figured it out in less than thirty minutes, but he is a big boy!So if you are thinking about a memorable gift for you and yours under the tree or any other time, check this one out.Infact Lars just came up to me and looked at the screen and said "Cool Dad, look it's Fire." He named his car Fire.

Bought this for my one year old grandson for his birthday..Read the reviews so I knew it a little difficult to assemble...But it was not that hard...Took me one hour and a half...Having a socket wrench set sure helps...Looks cool and sturdy and when I give it to him on his birthday I know he will love it...

Holds without sticking too much

This tape is very good compared to other brands. I use it to tape my thumbs 6 times a week. It provides a good grip without peeling off your skin when you unwrap it. It it doesnt have those threats hanging on the edges.

Excellent cost-effective way to make your RV electrically independent

I couldn't be happier with this inverter as a cost-effective way to make my RV electrically independent for dry camping over extended periods. I have combined it with three 110 ah AGM batteries and a smart charger which gives me more than enough power for three days of running the RV off the batteries and allows for a rapid (less than half hour) charge off the generator. I do have a little noise in the TV picture on some channels while on antenna annd using the inverter, but it seems to vary form time to time and is no big deal.

Okay, but condition seemed a little "rough"

Good price. Purchased for my wife for Christmas. She has two other china sets as well as a large collection of Waterford Crystal so she knows what she is talking about. She pointed out what appeared to me to be "minor" imperfections in the piece, but to her, there should not have been any imperfections. We debated about returning the item, but elected not to mess with that. Since I bought the piece as somewhat of a "memory lane" walk rather than with the intention of buying any more pieces, we decided just to keep it.

These threads are beautiful!

What an assortment! They are so beautiful and with the storage case included they will stay dust free. 84 spools of thread in all those pretty colors. I will order again. Amazon prices are awesome, just check and compare and you see this assortment for much more. I wish they would do this in regular threads with 104 spools of polyester cotton.

Nice!

Having not played guitar for twenty years, I wanted to get back to playing again for my own enjoyment. I didn't want to spend a lot for an easily fretted, nice sounding instrument and this guitar fills that bill. It has good looks to go along with its nice deep mellow sound and is easily fretted, my three requirements. A great guitar and a bargan for the money. I'm very pleased with this guitar. If I had it to do over, I'd get another one just like it.

Even though I am a beginner, my instructor told me that he is amazed at the sound of such an inexpensive guitar. I too wanted a guitar that wasn't cheaply made and the sound was important. Nobody wants to learn on a guitar that sounds bad.I would certainly recommend this guitar to any beginner as well as advanced player. The price is right and it is a well built and great sounding instrument!
