Product Description

The Versatol is a portable tripod type screen. Legs are gable constructed of 18 gauge steel, equipped with plastic shoes and attached to the upright by a one-piece hooded steel leg bracket. An automatic leg lock fastens all three legs and is released by a push-button near the top of the upright tube. The upright tube and extension tube are of plated square welded seam steel. It features an adjustable steel case finished in black powder coat and fitted with end caps concealing roller ends with an integral nylon bearing surface to support the roller. Positive stops in all positions of the extension tube are provided via plunger lock. The top edge of the fabric is mounted securely into a powder coated tubular steel slat. The ends of the slat are protected by plastic outer caps. A steel pull is attached to the slat. The picture surface has black masking borders, standard, on flame retardant and mildew resistant seamless fiberglass fabric. The fabric is mounted into a metal strip in a metal Camlok® roller system without tape, glue, staples or cords so that that the fabric can be easily replaced, yet cannot be pulled from the roller. A simple, reliable tensioning device is provided. Complete with attached keystone eliminator. NOTE: Video Format and 84" x 84" models do not have keystone eliminator. Seems very solid.Not *exactly* like those old school screens. Gray-ish surfacenot the white with "sand" glued to it.The picture that shows up is breath-taking.We struggle a bit the first time to figure out how to set it upbut the instructions weren't too bad. I chalk it up to it not beinga familiar mechanism.

Very Good 25mm Plössl by TeleVue

This is a wonderful eyepiece by TeleVue and a mainstay when I'm out viewing!Pros: The eyepiece is very clear, offers very high contrast, no apparent distortion or aberrations, and is a great low-power eyepiece (depending on the focal length of your scope in millimeters divided by your eyepiece focal length in millimeters--typically 300x power is considered max for atmospheric conditions, but be sure to check with your telescope's manufacturer). Although the field is about 50° with this eyepiece, the fact that it has less internal elements than wide-field eyepieces means that objects will be brighter (typically) with a Plössl like this. I own and use 11mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, and 32mm Plössls by TeleVue and they outperform any Plössl out there. It is definitely worth a bit more to go with a higher-end eyepiece, especially since it is a purchase you'll only make once-- eyepieces don't really wear out if handled properly. :-) I've used this eyepiece for wonderful views of the moon and constellations. It is also very good for locating planets and seeing them in a wider visual context. However, you can boost it's power with a Barlow, which is what I sometimes do with a TeleVue 3x Barlow, only adding to it's versatility and with no real noticeable loss of brightness. I use this eyepiece often on a Orion XT8 every time I go out viewing and it is simply excellent.Cons: The eye relief on this 25mm is generous. I don't wear glasses, but this eyepiece should be useable for those who do. If you do wear glasses, however, generally Plössls like this may not be right for you and you should probably go with a TeleVue Radian (or similar longer-length eyepieces). The Radians are excellent eyepieces in their own right, but typically run about $180-$250. Other than that, it's hard to think of something that detracts from this eyepiece. It is not a wide-field eyepiece, but then again Plössls aren't wide field--it's just the nature of their design.Overall: A very, very good low-to-mid-power eyepiece that everyone needs for viewing and one that will blow away most any Plössl that came with your telescope and probably most Plössls in the aftermarket. To give you a sense of their value and quality, TeleVue includes a Plössl with their $3000+ refractors that they sell. :-)Thanks!

Okay But Nothing Special For The Price

I was really hopeful that I'd find a Nagler that actually blew me away, and this one had promise. Sporting their famous 82 degree field, excellent contrast and sharpness, and doing so with only 6 elements piqued my interest. However, the ultra-high price tag was a huge bar from ever getting this eyepiece. Still, I was sorely tempted to buy one if the performance was exceptional. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.I finally got to try one the other night. Admittedly the viewing conditions were not ideal. Despite being at an altitude of 7400 feet, an icy wind and glowing sky did not make for a spectacular night.I first tried it on the Leo Trio. With my cheap old Orion 26mm Q-70, I could get all three galaxies in the field, though the distortion at the edges was noticeable. However, the sweet spot in the middle provided plenty of detail as I centered each galaxy. Then I switched to the 20mm Nagler.With its 82 degree field, even at the higher power, I was able to squeeze all three galaxies in the field, and they were not distorted at the edges. That is a nice plus, and one of the things these eyepieces are known for. However, the contrast and sharpness, no matter where I had each galaxy in the field, was no better than that sweet spot in my Q-70. I also didn't see any more detail than I did at the lower power of the 26mm Orion. Even given the less than ideal viewing conditions, I was expecting something more.Then I tried M-13. For all the talk of their sharpness and contrast, I expected the Nagler to reveal the propeller, a dark area within the cluster, but alas, I could not see it. When I added a Barlow, the propeller flashed in and out of focus and looked almost identical to the view when I switched to the lower power Q-70. The feature actually showed up better when I dropped an 18mm Russell Optics Bertele into the Barlow.Given the crummy seeing, I still did not see enough of a boost in performance, the wide flat field notwithstanding, to warrant the ridiculous price. There is no doubt that this eyepiece has excellent optics, however, the overall performance does not warrant the high cost. I can live with the fishbowl edges of my $90 Q-70, as the sweet spot in the middle is what I'm really after, and it performs just as well as the Nagler in that respect.I still wouldn't mind having one of these eyepieces, and if it were say $150, I would probably get one. But $450? No way.Don't let anyone fool you. You can be just as serious of an amateur astronomer without breaking your bank on one of these. If you are planning to buy a new telescope and eyepieces, my advice is to spend those extra dollars on telescope aperture. You can do just fine with a cheaper eyepiece.

Home Theater Excitement

I recently finished setting up my home theater in my basement. InFocus ScreenPlay X2 DLP Projector, Genelec sound system and the Da-Lite 92" HDTV fixed frame screen with their new high contrast fabric. I had been showing my images on the wall but the Da-Lite screen made the picture really pop! My family and I just love the way the pictures look so real. I'd highly recommend the high contrast fabric to everyone. Every projector should be sold with a screen. You cannot imagine what a huge difference it makes when watching your favorite movies.

clear, crisp monitor; several dead pixels upon arrival

I just received this monitor ("sceptre x9-komodo ii*") today and am impressed with the clarity and readability of the screen (see later for why I rated the monitor so low). I am using it through the DVI connector, not the analog connector It seems like there is a bit of a lag when I drag windows around, but a few quick tests with several games show the graphics to be crisp and movement to not leave too much of a shadow. The colors are good but seem a little washed out. I am using the DVI option, so there is no color adjustment, only brightness and contrast. Perhaps my graphics card is to blame, but I'm using an nvidia geforce3 ti200, which is a decent graphics card.The only problem I have with this monitor is that it arrived with 2 dead pixels and a small, light-grey blob, about 3x3 pixels (perhaps one of the RGB elements is out in that area?). Sceptre has no warranty on dead pixels, from the warranty: "6. LCD Exclusion: Sceptre does not warrant burnt pixels on any and or all LCD displays". Buyer beware - you get what you pay for!The monitor has a VESA mounting back - 4 screw holes separated by 100mm in a square configuration. There are a fair number of wall mounts for this, but neither the manual nor the manufacturer's website (www.sceptre.com) is clear about which ones would work or how you would prepare the monitor for wall-mounting. The monitor has its own stand, and it's hard to see how this stand can be detached before mounting directly to the wall with a VESA 100mm standard wall-mount.My rating of this monitor would be higher if it hadn't had these dead pixel defects and if Sceptre actually had a "dead pixel" policy. I'm not a techological "apologist" - these things may be high-tech, but the manufacturers see fit to sell them to us, so they should be ready to go. I figure that for the hundreds of dollars that LCD monitors cost, they should at least be dead-pixel free when they first arrive!---I have since solved some of my problems with this monitor. The monitor's annoying tendency to shut off and stay off for no obvious reason, requiring me to fully disconnect it from both power and the DVI cable, seems to have been caused by the win XP "geiss" screensaver. I disabled this screensaver and the monitor hasn't given me any "permanent sleep" problems.I downloaded the new nvidia driver for my graphics card, and this has many color adjustment options (brightness, gamma in RGB, etc.). So now skintones, ocean blues and other things look normal again.I called customer support and they told me how to remove the stand so I could mount the monitor to my wall. They were actually very helpful in this regard.

Great quality, great price

The Komodo series has a few variations, but all employ high-quality LCD panels. The X9g-Komodo II (X9=19" diagonal, II=variation II of the Komodo serise) has a very nice panel (possibly made by Fujitsu) that's capable of 1280x1024 resolution and 16.7 million colors. The backlighting is very even, and at the max setting (25), too bright for most settings. I set it at 13, with contrast around 15 (out of 25), and it still looks bright in my office. No dead pixels on my unit.Not all the Komodo models have the digital DVI connector. If you need DVI, be sure to get the right variation.In summary, like other Sceptre offerings, the X9g-Komodo offers excellent image quality for a low price that's hard to beat. Very highly recommended.

Excellent value

I bought one of these (X9g-Komodo II 19" LCD DVI Monitor [Black]) for myself and then a few days later my wife's monitor died and I bought another one. (I still suspect that she broke her CRT monitor out of jealousy, but I have no proof :-)We have been extremely pleased with the video quality and the price was outstanding. The 1280x1024 resolution in a 19" display is a good compromise for eyes that aren't so young any more. We both play high-frame-rate games and neither of us really notice any ghosting.No dead pixels, no obvious variation in screen brightness. Both contrast and brightness are outstanding. The overall viewing quality is as good as the 23" Apple Cinema Display (1920x1280) that I used at work, and you could get about 5 of these for the price of that Apple display!One minor caveat -- one of the two monitors (mine) has a surprisingly blurry display when using the analog (VGA) input, while the other one (my wife's) looks great. Not quite enough to be a "defect", but definitely disappointing, and drops my review from 5 stars to 4. Since I bought the display to use the DVI input, this weakness has only been a minor inconvenience, but it does mean that I can't effectively use my monitor with an SVGA KVM switch -- it would probably be fine with my wife's, but I have not tried swapping them for this test.I think I used the internal speakers once -- that was enough. You get what you would expect to get from a couple of 1 inch cones....

Excellent workstation desk, but CHECK YOUR HARDWARE

This is not a computer desk. A computer desk is a pretty piece of furniture that houses your computer so that it can be tucked away and kept hidden when you have company over, with drawers and cubbies and hidy-holes for all your junk mail, manuals, and coveted treasures that you will put there and never ever find again until you have to move.This is a computer workstation. Emphasis on WORK. It's nothing more than a big, flat table with an additional shelf, that's height adjustable, and optionally portable (if you install the oversized, five inch wheels, which are included by default). While it won't go well with your Victorian or Mission themed living room, what it will give you is space. Glorious, beautiful space at a height that will put everything you want and need in easy reach.It's rugged, lightweight (compared to standard computer desks), easy to clean, and reasonably easy to put together. There are no keyboard drawers or mouse trays... you have to put all that on the desk top. But all that glorious space makes it easy to slide those things out of the way if you want to write, draw, craft, do accounting, read mail, work on a book, do some sewing, or any number of common household tasks that you'd normally have to do at your dining room table. Because a traditional computer desk doesn't have enough room!This table is probably designed and marketed more for a business, school, or commercial situation. But there's no reason you can't use it at home. The adjustable height means you can put it at a height that is ergonomically comfortable for you, and it's simple design means you can use it for far more than just computer work.No, it's not pretty or fancy. But it is large, durable, long lasting and easy to maintain. If you are more concerned with your desk being functional over being pretty, you'll love this workstation desk. But if you can get past that, you'll have a great desk that will last for years, and be useful for much more than just doing computer work.

Good for Tall People

I wanted something that I wasn't rubbing my legs on all the time and the idea of an adjustable desk appealed to me. I wanted my monitor on a stand so I wasn't straining my neck looking down all the time and I can't stand keyboard trays since they have no room to rest your hands or move your mouse. Overall this desk met all of those requirements.All of the parts were in the package but the instructions weren't great and in order to put the wheels on we had to remove the caps that weren't supposed to be on yet (at least we were supposed to put them on ourselves in the instructions. The drilling on the table is a bit off as well so the frame sticks out a fraction of an inch on the left side instead of the surface hanging over like it should. I know it but I don't think about it. There is also a small chip in the surface on one of the front cornersI'm 6 foot 2 inches and my legs fit comfortably under the table. Much taller men would easily be able to adjust this to meet their needs. I didn't measure but I think the maximum clearance is close to 40 inches with the large wheels attached.

Perfect for my needs

I purchased this scope for use at my gun clubs range. At 25 yards and 100 yards it worked perfectly. All images were clear and sharp. It's very easy to zoom, and the focus works well too. I wear glasses, but still found the eye relief to be decent. The hard case is real nice, but something I'll never use. The soft carrying case is sturdy and compact for transfer back and forth to the range. I was able to fit the scope with eye piece still attached in the soft case, and still had room for the tiny tripod. If your looking for a good compact scope, this one works well for the price. The tripod is ok for shooting from a bench, but would not be stable for most other uneven surfaces.

Mixed feelings

I like the compactness, but I don't really need it. The optics are okay, but there's a lot of stuff for less than half this price which is equal to the optics. As with all zooms, the 15-45 eyepiece does not deliver the optic quality of the 25x eyepiece. Definitely 5 stars for the packing and case: every possible way to pack and carry this tiny little guy. Definitely 5 stars for the compactness. Somewhere around 3 stars for the optics (I have a pair of Swarovski binoculars, so I KNOW what 5 star optics look like). I also have mixed feelings about the angled eyepiece. Good for looking up, but not easy to sight-align to a distant object. Since I don't put a premium on the compactness or weight, I'll probably swap it for a better optics albeit bigger/heavier.

spotting Scope

I needed more room in my bulleye shooter's gun box. I use it for 25 and 50 yard pistol matches. The optics are clear for these ranges and the size and weight is perfect for this use. It comes with a tripod and aluminum case for which I have no use. Price is good but could be better if tripod and case were separate. I believe this scope would be clear enough for 100 yard rifle shooters, but the 50mm objective would probably not work well for longer range rifle shooting. The most important feature is size, weight, and optics clarity for a good price.

This is the best unit for the money. Well made, lots of available power, including on battery backup. This is our third battery backup unit made by Tripp-Lite and this one replaced our oldest one that was in service until just recently, non-stop since 1998. Tripp-Lite makes a quality product at a very reasonable price.

Excellent quality, economical buy

The NatureView 8 x 42 Roof Prism Binoculars are an incredibly good pair of binoculars. I searched around and compared the specifications of several Bushnell binos and I decided on these. I couldn't be happier with my choice. The field of view (330' @ 100 yrds)is perfect for birding, making it easy to follow a bird as it flies from perch to perch. The color optics are amazing, as I've never seen the plumage so clearly before. This binocular in particular is nicely streamlined on account of the roof prisms, not bulky like the NatureView Plus 8 x 42. I highly recommend purchasing these great binoculars.

Good starter binocs...but this is not for me

I am new to the world of binoculars. I've used them in the military, but I puchased these for the sole purpose of birding and travel. I've been reading a lot of reviews and doing quite a bit of research on a good, all-around quality pair of binoculars. My budget is up to $300.I had a good feeling about these Bushnell binocs based on the reviews, so I purchased them.Well, either my expectations were a bit too high, or perhaps my experience with good quality photography lenses have left me unsatisfied.First off, don't get me wrong this reviw. These are a great pair of binocs. The glass is nice and clear, the armor feels fine (albeit a little too 'plastic' feeling), and the brightness is excellent.Now, with that said, I was hoping better quality in the following areas:1. color2. control of chromatic aberration3. compactnessColor - the color is somewhat natural, and a tad yellow and warm(which is common with most coated lenses), but overall, the image is a bit flat. Contrast and punch across the color spectrum is a bit lacking. The overall feeling of color is more two-dimensional and slightly muddy. Honestly, it is quite acceptable, but again, I was hoping for a but more.Chromatic aberration -is somewhat evident. After observing buildings, trees and people from a 6 story building, almost all images have a strong blue-purple chromatic aberration covering any object that is being hit by the sunlight. I was surprised by this, as I have not read anything about such artifacts in the Amazon user reviews. This is something that I was hoping to avoid...Compactness - although I had an idea of the dimensions and weight of these Bushnells from the specifications, I was unfortunately not very happy with the larger size. The weight felt great though. So readers, please be aware of the dimensions on these binoculars. They may not fit your preference.With that said, I do think they are an amazing buy for the amount of quality you are getting. For me, I am needing a bit more 'oomph' and performance in IQ.I will be returning these, but I just purchased a pair of Vanguard 8x42 Spirit ED. These are the binocs I originally wanted, but couldn't justify the price. I will update if this trade off was worth it.

Good deal

We had purchased a pair of these Bushnell binoculars last year for my use, and we enjoyed them so much, that we decided to get the same model for my wife. The optics are excellent and the eye relief level is great for those who wear eyeglasses. The only complaint is that the objective lens caps won't stay on. However, a quick call to Bushnell and they'll send a free replacement pair, which work much better.

Wonderful product

Read about the wonders of emu oil online and had to try it. Thought if it did all it said, I'd better buy the 8-ounce size because I could sure use it. The stories are true. This stuff is a terrific moisturizer and great for achy muscles and joints. It absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling like satin. It takes the pain away from overworked muscles without leaving a burn or yucky residue, and the nicest thing is that after applying it to sore legs, you don't have to run wash it off your hands because it just sinks right in and moisturizes. Think Amazon has the best price on this product and it is worth every penny.

It should be illegal!!!

This stuff works so well it should be illegal. I have a lot of skin problems and no matter what the dermatologist gave me it never worked, but when I tried the emu oil, my skin felt so amazing and my skin cleared up. I use it for getting rid of my stretch marks and acne scars and they are all gone. I also use it on my scalp to make my hair grow faster and soften my hair. It is amazing this stuff works this well, and it is completely natural.

Wife on her third bottle... Daughter just got her first

A friend of my mother's suggested that my wife apply Emu oil while going through radiation treatment for breast cancer (caught early - treatment now complete - excellent prognosis) which is really damaging to the skin and underlying tissues. After looking at prices and reviews on Amazon, she decided to use Thunder Ridge. She was two weeks into her treatments when she started applying the Emu oil and she felt it really made a difference. Her doctor was impressed by the health of her skin throughout the duration of the radiation treatment. And after the treatment was complete and a few weeks of healing, her skin seems to have little ill effect from the radiation. It's hard to say with certainity that it was the Emu oil, but since then she has continued to use Emu oil as a moisturizer for dry skin and now my 16 year old daughter has her own bottle. It should be noted that the bottles we have received are much prettier solid blue than the one shown in the Amazon picture.

Excellent Screen set!

These da-lite screens are so widely used by professionals for a reason! front or back projection, excellent screen materials and a sturdy frame, it all bundles into a tour-grade plastic case (durable) are just a few off the top of my head. I have been using these screens for years with great success! when i had the opportunity to buy a great screen, from a great company (amazon) for a great price i had to have one. It is a plus that the manufacturer will sell replacement parts in the unlikely event i should damage something while setting up or tearing down a gig. It's only drawback is that it takes a little more floor space to deploy than some of the tripod models.
