4Nice sound quality
By P. Gaffney
Sound quality is better than expected. After much research these seemed to have a pretty good rating from other sources. There really isn't anything about them that we don't like. They were easy to install and we can blast them or mellow out with them. Would recommend to friends.

5Neck and neck w/ Bose 251s
By Cigarro
I just hooked them up and ran an A/B test with a set of Bose 251s. I think the sound reproduction is every bit as good as the Bose setup. For a third of the price you can't pass these by. The only thing that remains to be determined is how well they will stand up to the weather. If you can mount them under an overhang and keep them out of rain and snow, I think these are the real deal.

3OK for the money, some issues
By Mike
The sound on these doesn't blow me away but is fine for outdoor patio use. They can get plenty loud and the price was definitely a good deal. I only really have had two issues thus far.First of all, if you plan on mounting these any way but straight off a wall, plan on purchasing additional mounting hardware. The instructions mention some sort of 'mega' bracket, which is a joke. I scoured the net and found others baffled by this phantom mounting device. Yamaha is doing a disservice to it's customers by even printing this in the enclosed documentation. I needed to mount these on the patio ceiling but did end up finding a great bracket that is sturdy and has quite a bit of flexibility. The bracket is item number 10776 from a1components.com. I'm sure you can find it elsewhere but it is very sturdy, made of metal and not plastic. Best of all it was only $13 per bracket. It did the trick for ceiling mounting. The other issue is the grills just fall off. After only about two weeks outside, the grills just dropped right off. I live in Texas but the speakers are completely out of the sun. I had to strap rubber bands around the speaker bodies to keep the grills on. It's not attractive but seems to work. It seems like a better design would include a simple clip in of the grills instead of using glue. The Yamaha engineers must not have tested the glue above 80 degrees F.

5Buy These Speakers NOW!
By Patrick Michael
After doing a ton of research on outdoor speakers, I finally settled on these Yamahas, mainly because the price was so ridiculously low ($59.95 for the pair, including mounting hardware) that I felt I couldn't go wrong, especially since my next choice (Polk) would have cost me nearly twice as much.I mounted these babies on the back wall of my house, about four feet apart, just under the eave, so that they pointed out at the deck. Although the mounting brackets are included, Yamaha does NOT include any screws to secure these brackets to the wall. I ended up using some 2-1/2 inch long wood screws...but your application may differ depending on how or with what your house is sided.Yamaha also does NOT include speaker cable. I used some cheap 12-gauge stuff from Best Buy but 14 or 16-gauge lamp cord (also known as zip cord) from any hardware store will work just as well. Seeing as the speakers will be outside, I don't recommend the usual cheap, thin speaker cable that you normally see. Use the heavy stuff.I hooked the Yamahas up to a Marantz 2240B receiver from the '70s and good God almighty, the sound is absolutely fantastic! Bass, you ask? The bass was so powerful, I had to turn the loudness control OFF! It seems that the location of the speakers up by the eave serves to reinforce the bass quite well, thank you.Midrange comes through great. Both male and female vocals, as well as rock band stuff, is crystal clear. Nice highs as well. This system sounded so good that we ended up sitting outside until well after dark. For something to sound as good as these speakers do, for as little money as I had to shell out, is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended.

5Great value for 95% of us.
By Walter
I read the excellent reviews for these speakers and was skeptical. However, the price was right so there wasn't much risk. So . . . I bought a pair. The reviews were spot on. They sound is terrific, the price was unbeatable, and look is very acceptable (even to my Interior Designer wife). Unless you are an audio perfectionist, you'll never get a better price/performance value.

5These are great speakers!
By C. MacGowan
These are great speakers. My husband put them up over the weekend and wow what spectacular sound. It was packaged well and came with all the mounting necessities. We love listening to 50's jazz and the crispness of the cymbals and the brushes on the snare give you chills. Never again will we go back to large bulky speakers. These are on the wall and out of the way. The seller got them to us quickly and we want to thank you Amazon for being there yet again. Sincerely, The Escondio Macs

Product Description

Yamaha's compact NS-AW150 bookshelf speakers provide an affordable way to enjoy your music or television programming on a deck or under a porch. You can bring them in during the cold months and set them up indoors, too: their high build quality and good sound lend them equally well to two-channel indoor listening. The speakers, which are sold as a pair, each use a 6.5-inch high-compliance, polypropylene, mica-filled woofer and 0.5-inch PEI dome tweeter. The drivers are optimized for high rigidity but low mass, giving them reasonably high sensitivity (80 dB with 2.83V at 1 meter), another way of saying modest amplifiers won't have much trouble driving them. Their acoustic-suspension cabinets are sealed to prevent undue resonance or tubby, tuneless bass, which often results from low-cost ported designs.

5TV G5
By spiro
This product really adds extra functionality to your PowerMac. Installation involves adding the card to a free PCI slot in your G5 and installing the software. 15 minutes in all. I receive all broadcast stations and the software automatically names the stations with a TV guide lookup based on your zip code. I assume one can get premium stations if you connect the AlchemyTV card directly to your cable box. The remote control is awesome and really lets you use your Mac as a TV. Great way to save space if there is no room for a TV. Picture quality isn't perfect but acceptable. Recording feature is awesome and intergrates with iCal for scheduled recordings. You can buy 3rd party software to burn recorded material on to a DVD.In short, this product is well worth the cost and truly makes the Mac your digital hub.

3Some good, some very bad.
By N. Henderson
The Good:* Multiple video inputs (one RCA, one coaxial, and one supervideo.)* Effective image-enhancement technology to de-interlace, smooth jaggies and even out colors at higher resolutions.* Easy programming of video recording using a web site; you can set up the recording of a show with a single mouse-click. Although it lacks some of the abilities of TiVO, it generally makes an effective personal video recorder.* The remote control can be set up to run other programs, or to run the TV viewer even when it's in the background.* Miglia has shown a real commitment to continuing to improve the software.* Stable. Crashes are virtually unheard of with the newer versions of the software. The Bad:* Power hungry. Although it can minimally run on as little as a G4 400, you'll want something closer to a 1 ghz processor for decent video quality/frame rates while watching. Recording video is even more demanding.* From the start, the software has been plagued by bugs. Fortunately, most of these bugs have been fixed in subsequent releases, but you may still encounter some strange little things.* The remote control has the poorest ergonomics I've ever seen. The buttons require an unusually high amount of pressure focussed on a very small area to 'click', making it often difficult to quickly or reliably enter channel numbers. All of the buttons feel the same; there is no easily identifiable-by-touch volume or channel up-down buttons (as you expect on a TV remote.) The infrared transmitter is clearly underpowered; it's range is short under the best of conditions, and you often have to carefully point it at the IR receiver pod to get it to work. If you want a remote that wasn't designed by amateurs, consider the vastly superior ATI Wonder remote (which can be had for about $30.)* Even with image enhancement, watching TV off the coaxial input with the AlchemyTV card doesn't always look as good as it does on a conventional TV, with some graininess/static/fuzziness. Digital cable boxes or satellite tuners can provide a significantly stronger signal/better image.* Sometimes mind-bogglingly poor human interface design. The software routinely makes the user work a little too hard to accomplish basic tasks. For instance, there's no volume slider; you must click volume up/down buttons. You can program the remote's "power" button to open OR close the TV viewing window, but not both; if you want to be able to open and close the TV window from the remote, you have to assign two buttons; one for each task.* Some missing features, such as the ability to re-compress previously recorded video with a different codec (important if you don't have a dual G5 to record directly into the space-saving MPEG4 format.)* Somewhat sluggish tuner; there is a distinct delay while switching channels (although not as bad as with a satellite TV tuner.)All in all, this isn't a bad product. It does the job, if imperfectly. It's just disappointing that what could have been a great product with better design is just an OK one. Still, it deserves your consideration.

5MAC Tv Card
By Basem Hassan
Good product and I'm amazed that Amazon was able to have it on my doorstep the next day. This damn card is impossible to find in stock anywhere.WORD OF CAUTION THOUGH:It's not compatible with the G5 PCI Express slots. I had to keep it in my G4 and get a different one for the G5.Otherwise it's an excellent product and Amazon's service was great.

5Read the instructions before using
By J. Preston
"You sound like you are in a tin can.""You sound like you are in a tunnel.""Are you using tin cans and string?"These are comments from my clients and colleagues on the sound quality of my voice when I first started talking to them through this headset. You can overcome the "tin can" problems by adjusting the headset. Hold the MFB (multi-function button) (the middle button) down for six seconds till you hear a beep. Then, use the + and - buttons to adjust it to the tone that is best for you and your listeners. To overcome the echo and distortion, just move the boom further from your lips. It is wonderfully sensitive and a distance of 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches from your lips is probably ideal. Proper ajustment of the distance of the mike from your lips will eliminate the echo and distortion. The manufacturing quality of this set is good. The design is attractive and the materials are state of the art. The footprint is acceptable on my desk. The wireless aspect works well. There is little interference and the range is better than I thought it would be. I can talk from at least 125 feet away. The remote lifter package is amazing. It mechanically lifts the handset on your phone out of the cradle to answer incoming calls. By remote, you can push the MFB and it will physicially lower the handset back into the cradle.READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and this will be the solution you have been seeking for office communications mobility.

4Product works great
By C. Schneider
Easy to install, works as advertised. I hear a bit of static from time to time and it seems that the dialer function is louder than the voice. Can hear great and no one has complained that they can not hear me. There are cheaper sources for the same device from others. Unfortunately, I did not find those until after the purchase.

5Great Wireless headset
By B. Byrne
A little quirky to get the settings right, but once they are one gives crystal clear reception. In fact the reception was an improvement over the handset. Now my wife can be on concalls at home and get up and roam the house, get something to eat, or even check the mail. Great range. We bought the refurbished model for $100 and it was a great investment in her happiness... Happy wife = Happy life!

5AWESOME - Comfortable - Clear
By J. Barger
I bought this headset through my call center - provide tech support for a major ISP - 12 years. The Plantronics H261N is much More Comfortable than any monaural headset I've used. Because it's Binaural, you can change positions and alternate ears during a long day on the phone. About the Other reviewer's Comment - Needed to Adjust the Mic Closer To Mouth - Sure, JUST LIKE ANY HEADSET MIC that's Noise Cancelling! My regular customers commented on how much more CLEAR I sound compared to the previous headset. Regardless of what stores tell you, MSRP is actually $94.99 (Not Over $100.00 advertised some places) and they can be had for less than $70.00 Retail - Dealer Cost is about $45.00 plus Shipping for one - a little less for more.

3You have to buy the additional plugs to operate this headset
By John G. Kyriazis
The ad for these plantronics headphones is totally deceptive - you MUST buy the expensive adapters either for USB, your cordless or regular desk phone. Each of these three items is separate even though they are all "quick release". Buyer beware! You can't use these headphones without these adapters.

4Not a bad choice
By AWU
Function very well as described except the volumne is kind of low, I need to 'twist' or bend a little of the microphone in order to have lounder, clearer volumn on the other end. You also need to speak a bit lounder than usual. Otherwise, the receiving end will have a very weak, low voice volumn. The headset itself is very comfortable. Note: you need to purchase the amp adaptor to connect to a regular corded phone.

5Simply the Best
By P. Lio
I have used a number of these wireless navigators and this one is simply the best. I just bought a second one for my own personal use, when I am giving talks away from work. It is beautifully constructed, easy to operate (plug and play--anyone can do it, no troubles), well-designed and SIMPLE. It uses AAA batteries (no funky watch-type batteries, thank you!) and has performed great. The laser pointer is bright enough for me and we look at bright LCD projections in well-lit rooms. Overall, this is as close to perfect as it gets.

5Great for Needy Faculty
By Daniel Castimore
I have tried out a number of presentation remotes and this product is the best I have found. While it does not have all of the bells and whistles of other remotes, it is also foolproof. I have to support dozens of faculty members at the college that I work at, and each faculty member has a different skill level. The simplicity of only having 4 buttons means that anyone can use it. Even the faculty that are afraid of technology do not seem to have trouble using this. The range is fantastic and the battery life is pretty good. I have 7 of these units permanently located in classrooms and even with all that traffic I have not had a single unit fail in 3 years. This unit doesn't require drivers so it is easily installed, even into a visiting laptop. The only problem I have had is that sometimes I will get the transmitters and receivers mixed up, and have to re-sync them. Each remote has to be synced to a specific receiver, but once this is done it remembers even when unplugged.

2Laser dies quickly just like the VP4300
By D. Zhou
This was the second atempt to try the Interlink Remote after disappointed with the VP4300. It had almost the identical problem as the VP4300 except the buttons are a little firmer. The control of PowerPoint is excellet except again the blank screen button is often accidentally pressed during the presentation. My biggest problem is the laser. It is way too weak and dies often in the middle of a presentation.
