5excellent, quality product
By Blackbird
I've had one of these attached to an R925 cassette receiver for over two years and it works flawlessly. Was easy to install and easy to change CDs in the holder. Highly recommended.

3Functionally good but expensive
By hadi
This Panasonic CX-DP880 - CD changer is a nice product. I was disappointed that it is designed in a way that you have to buy a seperate adapter cable even if you are attaching it to a Panasonic receiver.

5Tin-can to almost Mercedes feeling, no joke!
By Carl Kriesant
I've had the dynamat installed in my '04 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport for about a month now and it was well worth the effort. When I say effort, I tore out my entire interior to install this stuff. Inner and outer door skins, entire floor (doubled up in places), trunk (doubled up again), rear hatch, and under my hood. It took a total of about 17 hours to install and trashed my hands, cuts and sore for several days. I used the dynamat heavy-duty roller for most of the installation and the handle of the roller to push the material into tight crevacises. My entire car, exluding the roof, took 2 3/4 bulk packs. I still have some left over and trying to figure out what to do with it...The results: You could say I was skeptical like other users, mostly because I hadn't known anyone who used it or what dynamat was even made of really. It's basically sheets of tar (butyl rubber) backed with thick aluminum foil. This stuff is heavy, but pretty thin and tucks into tight places pretty easily. While at first I noticed an increase in my cars weight, it seems to be less noticable the more I drive. What's more noticable is the quiet ride and solid-feeling the car now has. The doors really do close with a thud and not that reverberating tin-can sound like before. The entire chassis feels much more rigid and stiff, like a higher priced, luxury car. My roommate, who drives a Benz C-class, said the stiffness was immediately apparent and the road noises was significantly reduced. This girl loves to drive and she was pretty impressed with the results. The amount of road noise from freeways was almost difficult to carry on conversations or listen to music clearly before. Much more quiet now. If you've ridden in a subaru impreza, you know how loud they are! While it's not Lexus quiet, it's much, MUCH better than a stock subaru. There's still some noise, but I wasn't able to cover the firewall as much as I would have liked and my tires are lousy. When new tires are needed, I'm going back to a quality set and that should help a lot more. (BTW, Bridgestone-made Fuzion HR's suck a$$, but they are cheap.) I'm going with Bridgestone Turanza's next time.My intention was purely to block out road noise and make a more comfortable environment for myself and passangers. A bonus to killing the road noise was the improvement in my cars audio quality. I had previously installed an Alpine h.u., Alpine speakers and Audiobahn d-class amp w/ a 10" sub and it really brought my system to life. I never knew what mid-bass was till after the dynamat was installed. I'm amazed to get that much thump, out of 6 1/2" door speakers!! I had to go back into the headunit and re-adjust my equalizer because the entire soundstage totally changed. It really allows me to enjoy my music to it's fullest without an amp for the door speakers, which is nice! My music consists mostly of hardcore, metal-core, metal and punk. The dynamat really brought out crisp, clean sound that wasn't distorted at higher volumes like before. It's also allowed me to tune in really precise and crisp bass hits from my single 10", enough to make my rearview mirror droop with each hit. I love hearing and feeling the kick drums in heavy music.All-in-all, I am extremely pleased with the results. At first I was tired and my hands and back ached from two straight days of installation, all the while thinking "what the hell am I doing!?". But now, I can sit back on a drive, carry on conversations without raising our voices, listen to my music with better definition and clearity, or enjoy a nice peaceful interior alone. It's been well worth the effort.Would I do it all over again??In a heartbeat on this car. Hopefully the next car will be more quiet from the factory... if not, I'll probably dyanmat that one too!

5My doors go "kfump" now, instead of "klang"
By Dane Shepherd
I agree with the others; anyone who doesn't like this product must have installed it wrong.I have a 2000 Honda CR-V SE. I lined the underside of the hood, the entire roof, all four doors (inside the doors and the surface), much of the floor, the spare tire well, the rear quarters (inside, behind the rear speakers) and lots of the tailgate with two (2x) Bulk Packs (9 sheets each.) I had not planned to line the roof, but after gutting the seats, all trim panels, and all the carpeting it seemed worthwhile. I cannot explain how differently the vehicle sounds now. EVERYONE compliments it (including my wife, who could not understand why I was spending the time and money on the project in the first place, but now wants me to Dynamat her Solara!) The doors go "kfump". Knocking on the hood, roof, or doors sounds like hitting a solid wood desk. There are NO vibrations or rattles in the car whatsoever (I also got some cheap self-adhesive felt sheets from a hobby store and lined the ashtray, glove box, and little change compartments. Now it's like driving around with ear muffs on. There is still some road noise, because I have pretty knobby tires, but the incredible thing is that I can no longer hear my exhaust from the rear of the car, and sometimes I'll look sideways and notice an 18 wheeler beside me that I did not even hear. When I pass vehicles going the opposite direction I am used to the "whee-owwww" as they go by, but now it is a "whiff", or just silent.Lining the roof made a huge difference when driving in the rain, but since the windshield is so noisy in a downpour the cabin is still pretty loud, but there is no "ratta-tat-tat" from the metal anymore at all.I bought a heat gun and the rubber Dynamat roller specifically for this project (though I'm sure I'll get plenty more use out of the heat gun). I agree with many of the other reviewers that if you do not press this stuff down in FIRM contact with your vehicle that you will not get the best results. I've done MUCH (much, much, much, much...) research on this and the bottom line is that this product is so effective because of "vibration damping", NOT sound blocking. If you hold a sheet up in midair between you and a speaker it will have no effect. If you glue it to the speaker you will virtually stop the sound.I can also go on about how AMAZINGLY different that my stereo sounds, but I think everyone else covered that. Yes; more mid-bass. Yes; you will hear things in your music that you never heard before. Something that surprised me though was how much quieter your music is OUTSIDE your car. I am not a loud person, and I always turn the volume down at stop lights, and in residential neighborhoods, but one time I stepped out of my car and left the stereo on at a pretty comfortable level. When I closed the door I could not hear it at all. Nothing. Nada. That was a nice bonus. This stuff is incredible when installed right. Amazon had the best prices in all my searches. You will ache, you will probably bleed, but a weekend or two of hard work should reward you for years. Enjoy!

5Expensive but Effective
By C. Dewey
I decided to go with Dynamat to reduce road noise in my Jeep Liberty as the all-terrain tires were unbearably loud at highway speeds after a few hours. Amazon had the best prices on the bulk packs by far so I bought two to cover all four doors and the floor of my Jeep Liberty. I ended up with two sheets (3 sq ft) left over which should be enough to cover the rear gate when I have an afternoon to kill. The metal backing is incredibly sharp and it conducts electricity, so a co-worker warned me to take great care to ensure that the wires do not come into contact with any of the edges. It's no easier on your finger tips either! I found out the hard way that you should not cover any contact points between the trim panels and doors if you want the panels to fit as snugly as they did before the installation. With the great care and lessons learned, all four doors took approximately 20 hours to install and the floor took close to 30 more. I'm certain an experienced installer could have done the job in half the time. The results of just the doors were impressive enough, but covering the floorboards made a tremendous difference. At 75 mph, I now listen to the radio at 18 instead of 30, which is an approximate 40% reduction in cabin noise. More impressively is the sudden emergence of midrange and punch from the base that makes me wonder if somebody stuck a subwoofer in my console. With no adjustments to treble or bass, the premium Infinity speakers now sound almost worth what the dealer charges! Despite the high cost in initial expense, weekend sweat, and finger tip slashing, Dynamat has lived up to the hype. Hearing is believing!

5Unusual but very useful
By Shed Systems Inc.
I love this thing! I call it the "wallie" because we use it to move sections of Shed walls around. It is a mfg version of a similar tool we already have and use often to easily move around framed wall and roof sections into place from the trucks.Works best with two people if rough terrain i.e. (outside). I have loaded 5 sheets 3/4 ply on it and roll it around the job with ease. Also works to roll around 4x header stock. Just lay one end on the cart and pick up the other. basically a set of wheels on the end of an stick.Never thought how usefull th little thing would be till you play around with it.

5This is exactly what I was looking for
By builder1650
I bought this because it it exactly what I was trying to come up with on my own.I used a mickey mouse axle and wheel system to move windows, doors and patio door frames but at the risk of problems. This thing solved that by clamping on whatever you are moving and rolling like champ. You know those fence panels that HD and Lowes sell....load them on this and one person can balance and move it easily by himself. In addition...don't follow the advice in previous review regarding using this for moving beams and headers (one end of a heavy beam is still heavy). It works well by balancing the beam in the center and temp. nailing a vertical 2x4 to one end for a handle. I moved long 6x6, 6x12, and 4x14 with ease from the front of a home to the backyard deck by myself.

5terriffic for installing privacy fence
By P. A. Wilson
I used the Trojan DC-9 Dolly to install 6x8 foot privacy fence panels single-handedly. Terrain was a bit rough in spots but the DC-9 worked well, and is certainly strong enough for big jobs.

Product Description

SOG Twitch XL Folder Blade Knife. The XL is classy... it moves well, looks right, walks the walk, and talks the talk. Basically, it can more than get the job done. This is a high-tech statement of sophistication with all the bells and whistles that you expect from the designers at SOG, including SOG Assisted Technology. The fine construction comes together to make the XL one of the most practical and beautiful knives that we have ever handled. Cryogenic Heat Treatment SOG's unique cryogenic heat treatment process increases the toughness and wear resistance of our blades. Taking the knife slowly down in temperature to less than -300F and then back to room temperature. This stress relieves the material on an atomic level and increases overall strength as well as edge retention. Knife edges stay sharp longer with significantly less micro-fracturing and edge-chipping. Its this dedication to making your knife SOG sharp that sets us apart from the rest. SOG Assisted Technology SOG Assisted Technology works through the balance of opposing high-tension coil springs. As one opens the blade the force to propel the knife open becomes greater than the closing force and the blade will open on its own. The end result propels the blade out once the operator has initiated the one-handed opening action. S.A.T. works so well that right-handers can use their left hand equally well to open a folding knife (of course this works oppositely for lefties). 5Nice Pocket Knife
By G. Powell
The SOG Assisted opening knives are just plain nice. The level of detail in the machining/forging of the blade and handle are excellent. This particular knife has a very nice shaped blade for slicing stuff, like apples, oranges, salami etc. The blade is mostly flat at the handle so that you can complete the cut, with the tip at a nice curve to start and draw down through the material. The knife is slim in the pocket, the clip can be moved from left to right or removed depending on your personal preference. Requires a small allen wrench to remove the bolts. The thumb kick is easy to make the blade open, requires two hands to unlock the blade and fold it back in easily. (one hand "maybe") There is a small lock on the lock itself to prevent accidental opening in your pocket or closure once the knife is opened. It's small but with a detent to hold it in place. Although honestly its never opened by accident in my pocket. The two side studs are to prevent the blade from hitting the inside of the handle bolsters, not for opening so don't even try.All in all a nice pocket knife.

4Powermatic 20" planer
By Rand T. Frantz
I just read the one star report and had to add my comments on the planer. Almost all woodworking machinery is now made in China unless you buy expensive European machines. This is not what I prefer. It is reality. I received my planer about a month ago. It had no rust and works as it should. I would recommend it highly. I am a professional woodworker/cabinet maker and use the planer almost daily. It replaced a 12" Robland jointer/planer (European Made). I like the Powermatic's larger capacity and it's 5 hp motor really gets it on. I may update this planer with one from Felder (Austrian made) some day but that is a major difference in cost. In its class, the Powermatic just can't be beat.

4professional woodworker
By Lee R. Bauerlein
After reading a few reviews here, I can understand some of the dissapointments. We received our planer in good condition and did need to fine tune some of the settings. We consider this fairly normal however. The one problem we experienced out the gate though was that a chip deflector broke from it's weld and fell into the knife head. Since we purchase this unit from a large dealership, Powermatic shipped all the needed replacement parts immediately. Unfortunately, our several hours of labor required to fix the unit were not covered. Not a big surprise though. If you are a serious woodworker or have a medium or larger shop, I would highly recommend replacing the cutter head with the one offered by Byrd Tool as we did.The results were more than like night and day. We have had the same knives in the planer for almost 6 months and have yet to change or adjust them. Extremely quiet, vertually no tear out or chatter. Powermatic used to offer this head with a few select machines. We will use this new head design on all our joiners and planers.

4Shipping issues
By Chris Schaefer
the first unit arrived in terrible condition. It was not securred to the pallet and the crating was not designed to ship something of this weight. Amazon went above and beyond when it came to replacing the unit. I received the second unit with less damage but still not an up to standard shipping crate. This time Amazon sent the replacement parts and the unit is a hungry working monster. I love it. A little rust on one of the infeed conveyors. Amazon is king when it comes to something of this size. I was nervous ordering machinery of this magnitude. I would and will buy from Amazon again.

3good idea but alignement issues
By javaboost
April 2007: As another reviewer stated I got this block with the purchase of the 14 inch bandsaw as a freebie. I too noticed others having issues with the alignment of the riser block and I went through my own dealings with Powermatic/WMH tool reps to resolve it.The primary concern for most, and for myself at first, was the issue of coplanar wheels. I went through two blocks and both did not keep the wheels aligned coplanar wise. The offset is about 3/8 inch.I called Powermatic/WMH three times. Call number one suggested cutting 1 of the pins off. Which didn't solve it so I cut both as did other users. This left me with a riser block that was offset from the upper assembly by 3/8 inch. Not terribly attractive. It also removes pins, though the bolt should have kept the assemblys from moving, I did not feel comfortable with that.Exchanged for block number 2. (Confession, I did not get this from amazon or I'd be spending a lot of time waiting. I got it from WoodCraft). With block number 2 and call number 2 to powermatic, I get the reccommendation to drill new holes in the bottom arm of the upper assembly of the saw. I got off the phone, looked at the assembly and with my limited brain cells couldn't see myself being very accurate in drilling into a piece of iron that would be hard to secure.Call number 3 to powermatic suggested that I drill in the bottom of the riser block instead and also offerred some insights into the construction of the bandsaw. It is not designed to be coplanar. Also, the bottom wheel is not parrallel. It is tilted for better tracking. Secondly, he said that coplanar is not really that important.I'm not sure I totally agree with "coplanar not being that important" because as my friends at Woodcraft told me it all depends upon your intended usage. if you're cutting logs, who cares. If you're doing scroll-like work or resawing, then you may care a lot. (Did I mention I'm a new woodworker and this is my first bandsaw?)So, take it for what it's worth. I wouldn't cut the pins off, like some have done. The last powermatic rep also said that no bandsaw is 100% coplanar. True. But 3/8 of an inch seems a bit wide to me. I could be wrong. I did redrill holes in the bottom of the riser block. You need a 1/4 inch bit for metal. It's not "100% coplanar" but it's closer to it than it was prior. Why only three stars? Because this stuff should be documented somewhere in either the bandsaw manual or the riser block instructions. From what I can see people have run into this since 2005.As I said I'm new to woodworking. I've read books and articles about proper bandsaw tune-up's and they all mention the coplanar issue. So I assumed that it was really important. Though I think 3/8 inch difference is pretty big in my mind, I recognize that I have a lot to learn and have eased up some on the coplanar requirement. One final thing to note is that this same block is used in the Jet 14 inch bandsaw only it is painted black. Maybe trying to use one block for two different saws is part of the problem.JUNE 2007 UPDATE: I think I found a reason why it may be that the riser block should not be set to make the wheels coplanar: When using larger blades (like a 3/4 inch wide blade), having the wheels coplanar actually makes the rear bottom guide bearing press on the back of the blade pushing it forward. Not a good thing. I couldn't figure out how to get around this. So the riser has been moved to use the factory guide pin holes instead of the ones I drilled to make the wheels more coplanar.

4Great addition to the saw, but I had a flaw in mine...
By Aaron Dechazal
I recently purchased the Powermatic 14" bandsaw and ordered the riser block from Amazon. It came a few days later and nicely matches the mustard yellow saw, you either love the color or hate it. One thing I wish someone had told me was what the riser block kit includes, well for anyone wondering, it comes with the block of course that you put between the saw frame halves. Also included is a metal guard for the left side of the saw where the blade is travelling up to the upper wheel. This is a nice replacement to the plastic one included with the saw. There is also a new guard for the right hand side/front of the saw where the blade is coming down to the upper guide bearings. Lastly there is the main upper guide bar which is the same as the unit which comes with the saw, it's just longer.I was able to install the system myself, but be careful, the top of the saw is bulky enough to damage you and itself if dropped. The main guide rod has a V notch ground into it to accept the locking knob feature. The problem I had was that the V notch was not ground in line with the axis of the rod, it was out by about 0.050", enough out that the upper guide bearing would rotate left and right as the assembly was adjusted up and down. Basically every guide height change required a bearing to blade clearance adjustment. I took mine to a local machine shop and had them grind it true to the axis of the rod. Now it works perfectly. I could have sent it back but didn't want to chance ending up with another one that was problematic, besides I figured the machine shop would grind it in much better than the factory. Anyhow, this is the only reason I gave it four stars, the riser block kit is well worth the $$ if you need to resaw anything over the 6" capacity of the saw itself. Just remember to purchase a couple of 105" blades when you get the riser.

5Powermatic 1791217K rises to the occasion
By Handy Dandy
After reading other reviews, I was leery about getting this riser block, but I wanted the added capacity. Well, it arrived today, and the entire conversion took less then 1 hour. (Can be done by one person, if planned out correctly - like having the bolt in close reach while putting the top back on - and being careful not to drop the top assembly during removal and replacement.)These are the answers to the questions I had before ordering:First and foremost, the riser block fit was perfect. It went on with a couple of mallet hits - no grinding of pins or removal needed. Wheels remained in total alignment and coplanar.Second, the picture shown here is wrong, the item is Powermatic "gold" not Jet white. And even though it does not state so, this kit also include a new 105" blade.Over all, a smooth upgrade to a very nice saw.

4Worth every penny
By Bobby Stanley
I purchased this drum sander a week ago.I am rating the Performax 22x44 Plus Drum Sander with Closed Stand. The stand is completely assembled in the box. This is the first machine that I have assembled and didn't have any extra bolts or washers. Assembly was exactly as it was supposed to be with everything lining up perfectly. All allen wrenches were provided for assembly.I only had to tighten the brake pedal. The paint job is wonderful. The motor assembly is extremely heavy, however, I was able to assemble the entire machine in 20 minutes.I purchased the optional infeed/outfeed tables and think they are great but should cost less than $100, more like $50. No, they should be included, but are not necessary.Performance: The motor is unbelievable quiet. No vibration at all. It is hard to tell sometimes if the motor is running it is so quiet. I sanded a 14 inch wide board and the results were amazing. Dust collection is a must and my Delta 1200 CFM pulls 99% of the dust.I use a 30 AMP service for the drum sander.Drum alignment was spot on. It was only off by .002 of an inch. No adjustment needed at all!I give it 4 stars because the mobile base moves inline and does not allow you to easily steer the machine. I also wished the conveyor motor was a little beefier. No problems. I just would like the assurance. The motor adjusts from 0 to 10 fpm.(Update 12-1-06: I received the "handy" tool to assist with sanding belt changes. I COMPLETELY disagree with the instructions for changing the sandpaper on the drum. It is not necessary to use this tool. I and my family think this way is much better: Attach the paper to both sides, but do NOT tighten it on the motor side as instructed. Simply tighten it by hand on the left side where you have much more room and can do it with your fingers. If you own this tool you will see exactly what I am talking about. It is so easy this way.I am so happy I received this machine. It was given as an early Father's Day gift.4/09 Update: If I were looking today for a sander, I would take a hard look at Steel City's dual drum sander. You can put two different grits of paper on the machine and really move things along. The price is so close. You also get two four inch dust ports on it. I would buy it now if I didn't already have the Jet/Performax. honestly

5My new workhorse
By OHtoolman
I purchase quite a bit of tools from Amazon, but I decided to buy this sander locally. There was a sale and mini show going on, so I got 10% off, plus a rep from Jet was there and threw in some free goodies, and I still received the current rebate. That was in January. I've used it on several projects now and can offer an honest review of my experience with it.First, I'd like to start by saying my shop has become more than just a hobby shop and is quickly approaching a full time business. I felt I needed to reduce the amount of time I spend sanding. Since I already own numerous Jet machines and have been happy with their quality and service, I researched their sanders first and came to appreciate the 22-44 Plus. Out of the box(s) the machine went together pretty easily and needed only minor adjustments to be perfect. Although it did have some minor hidden shipping damage, Jet corrected that promptly.Next came the learning curve. This is my first "real" sander so a couple sanding belts got ruined by trying to remove too much material at one time. Light cuts are the key. The crank to lower the sanding head moves down 1/64" per 1/4 turn and this is a pretty good reference to use when sanding. Sometimes I take a little more or less depending on the size and specie, but usually 1/4 turn per pass is just right for average size boards. I've not had any trouble changing belts. After doing it a few times, it takes about 2 minutes and I don't need to use the tuff tool. The tracking for the conveyor was a little fussy at first. I just dialed it in close and occasionally have to make a minor adjustment. This is real easy to do as Jet has put small wrenches on the adjustment bolts on either side of the conveyor. It takes about 3 seconds to make an adjustment and it can be done on the fly. Usually 1/4 turn on one of the bolts does the trick and it'll be fine for a couple more weeks. This sander will not totally eliminate the need to hand sand with a random orbital sander, however, it will greatly reduce it. Plus it'll flatten any unevenness. T The sander will leave a linear scratch pattern similar to a belt sander, even with 220 grit, that will need removed before final finishing. I've found loading up my random orbit sander with a slightly courser grit, the linear lines will remove with a good once-over. For example, if I drum sand to 220 grit, I can remove the scratch marks easily with a light pass of 180 grit in the random orbital sander. Also, a sharp card scraper will remove the scratch lines from 220 grit pretty easily if you prefer scraping over sanding for final finish work. Additionally, I'd recommend sending the boards through the sander 2 or 3 times on the final pass without changing the depth of cut. It'll reduce the depth of the scratch pattern and make sanding/scraping easier. Note- although I suppose boards could be thickness sanded, it would take a looong time, so keep the planer for getting lumber close, and then drum sand to final dimension. I took the rebate check from Jet and bought the extension infeed/outfeed tables for the sander. They are real nice for longer boards, easy to install and very stout. When installing, keep them just slightly below (mine are .04", or the thickness of a piece of 80 grit sandpaper folded in half) the height of the conveyor or else it will not feed right. I highly recommend the tables. The fit and finish of the machine is on par with the rest of the Jet tools I own. They do a nice job finishing their tools. This is probably the least important to me when purchasing a tool as I buy them to work, not to sit and be pretty. But still, I do take care of them and it's nice they look so good year after year. The machine comes with casters built in to the base. The casters are fixed, so they do not swivel. Nice for moving the machine back and fourth but not so nice for moving around. I'm tall and need to raise the machine up a few inches to be comfortable anyway, so a custom mobile base is in the works. The sander saves me an untold amount of time and produces smooth parts of equal thickness. It is connected to a Jet 1100 dust collector and sanding is nearly a dust free operation. The machine is a joy to use. Plus, it's pretty quiet. I'd purchase it again without reservation. --dave

5Jet 22-44 Drum Sander w/ closed stand
By Ronald Haefner
The Jet 22-44 is a very good drum sander. I have extensively used a Delta 16-32 drum sander for a number of years and was able to sell it for nearly what I paid for it so the upgrade to a wider unit was financially feasable. I took a look at a lot of machines and read through a lot of the operators and parts manuals. This looked to be the most foolproof, reliable, easy to operate and should have a low operational cost. The machine came in three boxes and were very well packaged. The boxes contained the sanding head, cabinet, and conveyor belt. Assembly is very easy. The sanding head goes on top of the cabinet and then the conveyor goes inside of the sanding head. The conveyor even features ceramic guides to help eliminate creep of the conveyor belt. I have yet to adjust the belt tracking. A standard 20 amp circuit is sufficient to operate the sander. No special wiring is needed. The smart sand feature works well on the machine. I can set the belt feed to 60 or more and the smart sand will slow the belt down when wider stock is fed through and back up when narrower stock is sanded. This feature has really made using this unit a real pleasure as I dont worry about stalling the motor, burning/gouging the stock, or ruining the sand paper. The key is don't take too much off during a pass.Turn the depth wheel 1/4 of a turn for the next pass or 1/8 turn for highly figured or unusually hard woods like locust or wenge. I usually check the temperature of the wood on exit and put it aside if it starts to get fairly warm. No scientific data but it does seem to help eliminate spotty burn marks especially around the occasional knot that may be present. these usually will hand sand out fairly easily but why not eliminate it from the start.Working with burl, birdeye and other highly figured woods sucepible to tearout on a planer/surfacer is very easy with this machine. It just takes a little more time to surface down these woods. Sanding surfacing makes it possible to make some very nice projects much easier. After using it to sand over 1000 bf of oak and walnut I have no concerns. I use 80 grit most of the time and then sand with a random orbit sander with 80 and then 120 and its ready for finish. On door panels I will sand the individual parts right after the dry fit so there are no cross grain scratches. Finish sand after glue up. I have also glued up and then sanded the whole panel. in this case its better if you drum sand to 120 before the finish sanding to hel get the cross grain sanding marks out. Also becareful (as one should anyway) when gluing up to assure the style is in plane with the rail. Sometimes the clamp can cause this problem if the jaws are not perfectly parallel on the clamp. But this machime can certainly sand it flat again should this happen. The inline stand seems a bit narrow especiallly given that the feed table overhangs it by a ways but it is not a stability issue. I dont mind the inline wheels as the machine is usually pulled straight out from its storage location for use and rolls straight back in when done. The optional feed tables should have come with the unit but it is possible that one would not need these if running stock of less than 3 or 4 feet long. It does take up more space. I would have liked to seen a design where the table was a set of arms with a roller that would flip up then one could feed stock with the roller arm up or down and flip them up for storage. When running wide stock say 40 inches like on a table top then give the stock some support on the edge that is not under the drum head. In/out feed rollers are recommended for stock 5-6 ft and longer.Dust collection is mandatory. And an ocassional cleaning of the paper is good too. Soft woods like pine dont do well as it clogs the paper rapidly. Hard woods like oak, walnut, et al work very well.Changing sand paper is easy. The handy tool they give you is still sitting in the package. I found that it was easy to change the paper with out it. Though my fingers are fairly thin, others may find it difficult to pull on the sandpaper clamp. The tool would be useful in these cases. Start on the outboard side and wind your way to the tensioner on the inboard (motor) side. I re-checked the sand paper tension after running a board after changing the sand paper and found it not necessary. The right hand side has a tensioner on the sndpaper clamp and it keeps the sandpaper taught. Only a little practice is necessary and changing sandpaper is easy. The sander came nearly perfect on the paralellism. It is easy to see that it could be a bit frustrating to set paralellism if needed but no more than say setting jointer or planer blades. In fact it should be a bit simpler as there is only the one drum to set. Careful snugging, checking, and then tightening of the bolts should eliminate any creep in the adjustment.I did notice a curious oddity when making a thin piece of veneer od about 1/16" thick. The drum was making contact with "something" when lowering it down to the thickness of the veneer. It turned out that my dust collection system had enough suction that it was actually picking up the belt. The belt appeared to be tight enough and closing down the gate partially for the sander solved the problem. The sander doesn't need a large volume of air as the particulate size is rather small. Not often when things work too well that causes an unexpected negative consequence. I don't make veneers very often but this most certainly is one of those "not in the book" things you learn. In short this is a great machine.
