4HOW MANY PIECES???????BUT FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Littlet T
Ok. So I purchased this set at the 39.00 price for my very spolied 5 year old. Yes - it does say i think 8 and up but he loves blocks and building and I knew I would be building it - it was not an issue. I mean we saw this last christmas and it was 70!!!!! This toy had to be fun right?? Well after you put it up then yes it is fun. It took me (an adult) 2 and a half hours to put this together - yes i followed all the directions which mind you - come in a book! Yes a book. It had very detailed pictures but like everyone said - the base and what holds it together doesnt really snap in good or hold it properly. I always wonder how these toy makers 1: make the directions up and 2: if they actually try to put their own toys together. The dragons were the easiest of the bunch to put together. All and all this playset is fun. You have the bucket that goes up and down (with people or rocks), you have the rocks come pouring out the head or top piece which lights up as well as one of the dragons (my son loved that), the dragons its just such a fun set. Plus its very detailed as well as the dragons. plenty of extra people that you didnt have to purchase seperately.Worth the time and effort!

5It's a mountain alright
By Kellianne Mayer
My son received this gift for christmas, immediately put it together by himself (8 yrs old) and has played with it ever since. My only complaint is that the base does not stay together with the blocks you are supposed to used to lock it. Other than that, it has been fun, especially when the dragon's head at the top blows apart and the "ice balls" come flying out. The train is cool throught the mountain and of course all of the 15 figures. He loves the toy and so do his friends who come over. It has been knocked around, stepped on, pieces thrown (much to my dismay) and has held up very well. We even lost a piece and called megabloks and they replaced. Great customer service!

4Lots of fun
By David Oconnell
We are loving this set! Very cool dragons, a fun environment for characters to explore and fight in. Extra fun from several moving features - rasing/lowering cauldron, tramcar on sloped tracks, erupting mountain top, opening dragon mouth, flapping dragon wings, firing cannon.A little challenging to build, but the instructions are fairly clear. Assembly took an adult about 3 relaxed hours.A few sections come apart after some play but they are pretty easy to put back together. So far no pieces have broken. Most important, this is a lot of fun to play with. Over the past two days, our set has been getting non-stop play from a 9 year old boy and 6 year old girl. A great toy for two kids to play with together, and the boy says a single child could also spend hours happily playing by himself. We wouldn't have paid the full retail price for this, but at $35 (Amazon discounted price), I think this is appropriate value.

4A fine upgrade from the basic Sodor Engine Wash.
By Doctor Trance
Take the concept of the Sodor Engine Wash (two pressure yielding, rubber washing posts that you guide the train through with a knob) and add lights, faux water, a spinning wheel, and much more color, and you have the Sodor Scrub and Shine. It's a very solid piece, considering it has lots of plastic. When you guide the train through with the knob, it begins to make one sound, then as the train passes through, another sound, and then a drying sound when the train hits the end of the line. You then press the button to pop the train up back onto the track. On one connector piece end, you have to lift the Scrub and Shine up and place it onto this small piece of track, which contrasts with the normal ease of connecting Thomas track. Little ones may get frustrated having to pick this big thing up all the time to connect it.One other note is that if you leave the tester/store display strip sticking out of the bottom, it remains in store test mode. This means that when you press the button that normally releases the train when it is at the end of it's wash, you hear the entire wash sounds go through their sequence. When you pull it out, you have to make the train go through to hear every sound, and the button only releases the train now. I am almost sorry I pulled it out, as it seemed more fun to my son when he just pressed the button once to hear everything without having to make the train go through! It's a fun piece, but I can't give it 5 stars due to it's heavy use of plastic, and the fact you have to place it on top of one of it's connecting tracks. It's still solid with the plastic, but it just doesn't have that classic Thomas wooden look.

4Sodor Scrub & Shine
By bzmom
My 3-year-old son LOVES this train wash and it's an excellent addition to our Thomas train set. The only problem with it is that it has two female ends and that makes it hard to use it as part of your track, without buying a piece with two male ends or just playing with it outside the track setup. He still has lots of fun, but because of the track design, we just gave it 4 stars, because now we have to buy MORE pieces...

5interactive fun
By Southern Mama
My 2.5 year old daughter is fascinated with car washes so when I got this Thomas Train wash, she loved it. She can turn the knob on top to pull the trains through (engines only--the other cars do not fit) and pushes a button to hear the sound effects and lift the train back onto the track. Works with the motorized or the basic engines. Cool scrubbers! Makes a nice side destination on a track.

4Take Off on an Island Adventure!
By History_of_Art_Geek
The buggy is the focal piece of the set, and all of the accompanying accessories attach to the buggy. It's a bizarre looking vehicle that seems to serve two purposes: to hold the Doh-Doh hut for the Tiki Toss game, and to function as a beach buggy. It's made of heavy-duty plastic, and rolls easily on most floorings, including carpet. The Doh-Doh hut fits in the buggy, for the Tiki Toss game, or can be played outside of the buggy as well. To play the Tiki Toss game, roll some balls of Play-Doh, and aim for the center of the hut where a spring-loaded Tiki shoots out of the top. Mold the Tiki, and place in the shoot. The game can be played outside of the buggy, but the buggy has a ramp that folds out for easy aiming. They Doh-Doh characters come in 2-pieces: the body, and the head. Stuff the head with Play-Doh, and insert the body. Doh extrudes from all the funky holes in the heads, and looks funny. They look like a mix of Polynesian Tiki's and the characters from Disney's Monster's Inc. They are strange looking creatures with big bulgy eyes, tusks, and stringy doh hair.Another fun feature of the set is the surfboard. It can be used a diving board, a mold, or a springboard to jump off. The skeleton fish are strange looking when bare, they look like half a skeleton with a loop. Mold their body in the fish mold, and then hook the loop with the fishing pole. The Doh-Doh Island Beach Buggy is more of a playset, than a set of Play-Doh. Most of the doh sets we own include molds, cutters, rolling pins, cookie cutters, and molding compound. This set can be played with independently without the doh. I think that's why it's so entertaining. When my son first opened the box, he played on the floor for an hour or more without Play-Doh. It's really an amusing playset.

5Perfect for a princess
By Candie
We put this TV in my daughter's room. She just loves it, and plus it looks great with all of her other Disney Princess stuff. It is not to often you can find pink appliances. It is also great that it comes with two remotes, one for her and one for me. It is perfectly paired with the DVD player, and just looks so darn cute!!!Also very clear picture and durable, better quality than what I expected from a thirteen inch TV.

5MY PRINCESSES LOVE THEIR DISNEY PRINCESS TV and DVD PLAYER
By Stephanie Griggs
As the mother of 3 little princesses, I think this television is such a creative and innovative idea. Why didn't somebody think of a PINK TV sooner? I have always hated the big black box (aka TV) in my daughter's pink and purple decorated bedroom. Last year, Santa brought them the Disney Princess TV and the DVD player too. Now their room is totally coordinated and the TV/DVD looks more like a part of the decor than a big ugly eyesore. Also, it's very durable and easy to use. My 4 year old pulled it off the bureau once while and it still functions perfectly fine. My 6 year old is the envy of all her friends - they just LOVE her princess TV and all go home begging their moms to buy them one just like it. It's easy to use, and comes with remotes that are easy as well. Side note, the volume bar shown on the TV when you adjust the volume is Princess Ariel swimming, and the number bubbles behind her increases and decreases with the volume level. I just love the little added features like that!

5Perfect little Princess Television
By julesie
This television is soooooo cute! Next to the channel numbers in the upper right hand corner is there is a little princess and when you press the play button on the dvd player a little mermaid pops up while it processes the request. The graphics are great and my daughter just loves it! The little hearts at the top contain the speakers and if you pop them off you can plug head phones in. Its great!

4Better Than Expected
By AtroposBella
I bought this CD player for my daughter's 5th birthday not expecting it to last a month. To my surprise it's worked wonderfully. She figured out how to operate it pretty easily and she listens to it every night before bed. We've had it for 6 months now with no problems. My favorite feature is the compartment for the CD's. It keeps them from being left lying around and getting scratched.

5Love it!

We got this for my daughter's 1st b-day, she just turned 2 and it still works perfect. We use it every day for nap time and for bed time. It is so easy to use that she knows how to work it already. She loves it and will not go down to sleep without her music. I have highly recommended this product to friends.

5bes6t toy my son ever got!!
By Tanya J. Dale
My 5 year old son received this toy as a gift and it has kept him busy for hours ( and he usually has a very short attention span). He loves to build all sorts of shapes and spends lots of time taking it apart and putting it back together..perfect gift for the child who is curious about how things work and likes to build!!

1Very bad quality
By AmazonShopper
The description looked very good and I thought it would prov eto be good toy for my 3 year old son. But the quality of the product is very good. After very light use for a few days, many of the magnets have come loose and the plastic casing has broke. The concept of the toy is good but the quality if very poor.

4Good however small
By D. Breinholt
This is a great toy. I was skeptical at first, however my 3 year old loves it. He plays with it for long times and enjoys the free build time with his imagination. I only gave 9 out of 10 stars because it is to small. It is good if you want to find out if your kids would like it, but I suggest buying a bigger package to really build with.

4Excellent design-features-quality-value balance!
By Daniel DOWNING
I have been shopping for several months for an under-cabinet LCD TV to replace our 18-year-old 5" RCA tube-type TV in our kitchen, which has served us well but has developed annoying on/off button problems and now looks old, clunky out-of-date.

Our requirements for a replacement unit were as follows:1. Small, sleek, unobtrusive, LCD design that would blend in under our white cabinets2. CD player so my wife could enjoy her books-on-CD in the kitchen (DVD and radio would be a plus but not essential)3. We wanted to be able to view both local channels as well as satellite channels without needing to also install a DirecTV decoder box (this would take additional space -defeating our compactness goal -- and require more complicated wiring, not to mention monthly charges).4. Quality (and warranty) that would ensure it would last several years.5. Price under $500.6. Given the limited selection and the poor quality reviews on other models, I needed to be able to examine it in person before buying.

I looked at these options:

1. Audiovox VE-1020 (and its older/smaller siblings). It way too pricey at $600-700 and read too many `poor' reviews on audio quality and overall durability.2. RCA BLC524: Screen too small, and `poor' quality reviews, plus could not find it in a retail store.3. Motorola/Moxell Tech KA-A13: Sounded good, reliable manufacturer, but could only find its announcement as it is not yet available.4. Standalone 13" LCD (Gateway, Aquous, Sharp) with a separate swivel mounting bracket. I eliminated this option early because it would be too large, too expensive (~$100 for the bracket alone!), and it most cases would not include a CD player.

I bought the Sony as soon as I found its availability was advertised at a local electronics retail store. Bought it with an inexpensive 5-year extended warranty.

It's been in place for 2 weeks and we *like* it - it is living up to expectations, despite a couple of design flaws -- the absence of which would have earned the unit *five* stars.

First the flaws-all minor:

1. Fit and connections. As an earlier reviewer on this site pointed out, its installation is a tight fit under our cabinets, leaving only about an inch clearance to plug in the coax and a/v connectors. But this was easily remedied by purchasing right-angle adapters (Radio Shack, $4 each) that can be screwed in after installation with the 1" clearance. These redirect the cable and RCA connectors downward, making attaching the cables post-installation easy. Sony would do well to include these right-angle adapters.

2. Installation instructions. The alternative is to connect all your cables *prior* to installing the unit - something the instructions did not point out. In fact, the instructions could be improved in various areas. For instance, while the unit comes with variable-depth spacers so that installation under cabinets with doors that overhang the cabinet bottom, if you have flush-mounted doors (as we do), you *don't* want to use the spacers at all. Well, the instructions don't suggest this option, leaving you to think that the spacers are required in all cases. For me, this meant re-installing without the spacers, a minor hassle.

3. No built-in TV antenna. Unlike our old RCA, this unit does not have a built-in extending-wand antenna. This makes it a *requirement* that you connect TV and/or A/V inputs to another signal source to receive *anything* on the TV. While many people may be planning to do this, it *does* raise the ante on hooking it up. Sony would have a more versatile product for less experienced people if they included an optional "single rabbit ear" antenna that could be plugged into the TV/cable connector.

Now the good features:

1. TV: Sharp, noise-free wide-format picture, with settable options for standard 3x4 picture size and two wide-format variations. Just the right size. When not in used, screen is easily folded into a cavity under the unit and latches mechanically (more securely than magnetically, which may also wear out).

2. Sound: Perfect for TV viewing and CD story listening, and quite decent for FM or CD music, both in volume and fidelity. Two 3" speakers main the sound forward and downward, and the bass extender works as advertised. As long as you don't expect home theatre quality sound from this unit, you should be quite satisfied.

3. CD Player: Quality feel of its slide-out tray. Plays commercial and my home-recorded MP3s flawlessly.

4. Remote: Small, intuitive, well-constructed. Its bottom magnet attaches to our refrigerator nicely.

5. AM/FM presets: 5 of each, easily set, with manual tuning buttons on the unit and the remote.

6. TV/Video switch: Easily switches from the antenna/cable input to the a/v inputs. This is important, as the way we wired the unit, it only takes my technology-challenged wife one button click to switch from local channels to satellite channels coming in from our home theatre system.

7. Clock: Intuitive and easily set.

8. Timer: Doubt we will use - or care about -- this feature.

Bottom line: We like it a lot, both how it looks and how it works. The Sony name (and their 1-year manufacturer's warranty) - coupled with the inexpensive 5-year extended warranty we bought - should give us several good years of service...until it is again technologically out-of-date and needs upgrading again!

4Good picture and sound.
By Good Time in LA
Bad points: 1) As all of the other reviewers have pointed out, this unit is almost exactly the same depth as a standard cabinet -- with about 1/2 inch to spare at the back. Very funny, Sony... No room to connect the cables to the back. I would like to thank the previous reviewer who pointed out that you can buy a right angle coax adapter at Radio Shack. It works good with that. 2) The LCD screen is 'wide screen' format. In other words, it is not the shape of a normal TV picture. This would be good if you played DVD's in letterbox format, I guess, but who is doing that under a kitchen cabinet? You end up having to decide if you want the TV picture to be a) kind of stretched widthwise (even in what they call Full screen mode), OR b) with a smaller square 'normal shaped TV' picture in the middle of the screen with about 1/2 inch of black bars on each side, OR c) in a slightly ZOOMed full screen mode, with a little of the top of peoples heads slightly chopped off sometimes. 3) The screen should flip down to end up in a more forward position (and not half-way under the cabinet) in case you are standing closer the the cabinet with the TV. Good points: 1) Good picture and sound. Good quality. 2) Very compact after it is installed. 3) It's cool. 4) Sony's Zoom mode can make up for the odd shape of the screen.

2Check your kitchen cabinet dimensions
By V Shakata
I was in the market for an under cabinet TV to replace an old GE Spacemaker. I considered the Sony. But this thing is HUGE! The dimensions are: 15 3/4 H x 4 1/8 W x 12 3/4 D inches. The width dimension was a problem for my desired corner installation but I could have made it work. The depth was a more serious problem. I believe I have typically sized American style cabinets. My kitchen was remodeled about 10 years ago. My base cabinets are 24inches deep and my upper cabinets are 12inches deep. I have a tile backsplash that reduces the depth under the cabinets by about 1/2 inch. The cabinet doors are about 1/2 inch thick. What this totals up to is the Sony sticking out 3/4 inch past the front of my cabinets. Ugh! Now if you want to add space so you can attach the cables to the rear, add another inch. Barf!I wonder if Sony even bothered to research the dimensions of the kitchens they were trying to fit into. I would really have loved to put a Sony in my kitchen (much of my hifi equipment is Sony) but this is plain bad design.I got an Audiovox VE640 instead. It is not the greatest but it does the job and it fits in the kitchen space allocated for it.
