5Yes! Finally clear water from green!
By debtink
I reviewed a lot of uv clarifiers. This one is made by same company as my pond filter. Installing was a snap. I cut the intake line to my filter, lines slid right onto the clarifier. I plugged it in and in two days the water was crystal clear! I've been cleaning the filter pads daily too. I can tell soon I'll be able to go days between cleanings. If you need a filter too, go with tetra! My pond is about 900 gal. It's in sun most of the time. I have 8 koi, a waterfall, a bubbling fountain and the filter. I added 40 small oxygenating plants and a barley ball. Before the uv I dosed the water for weeks with chemicals. The uv worked when nothing else did.

5Works great
By randy yamagata
Easy to hook up..cleared my 1500 gallon pond in about 4-5 days..noticable change in water after the first day and kept getting clearer...probably would have cleared faster but my pump is too small for the pond so the flow isnt high enough but its clear now..shopped around my local pet shops and the prices were from $160-$250 so i think i got a great deal..green color blends in with my plants..buy it..mahalo! 4GreenFree Clarifier
By Phillip Sloniger
This device is a wonder! Prior to its use, I constantly battled sun and minerals that kept the pond filled with algae. While chemicals work, they must contantly be adjusted in summer temperatures of 130 degrees in Basrah, Iraq. An added bonus is that all of the plant life in the pond is alive again. The five turtles and all of the fish can breathe again. I clean the filters each day and the pond is clear!!

5good value
By Carlos Vargas
Kent marine salt is a high quality salt that mixes easily. My corals are doing great good growth great colors. On my LED pro tank I had to add buffers and alkalinity boosters but on all my other tanks are doing great without it. I hate adding suppliants to my tanks and with Kent I don't have to all parameters are in spec. the vender that sold this item provided quick delivery.

5the Best
By Otis A. Glamore
After trying several salt mixes over the years and finding them ALL lacking in some respect, I went online to get advice about the best mix for a very densely populated reef tank. The consensus seemed to point to Kent Marine Reef Salt Mix. After having used it for over 2 months, I must say that the consensus was right. It mixes instantly, has no residue and maintains remarkably high and consistent levels of calcium, magnesium and trace elements ( I have not had to supplement at all ).And, most importantly, my animals are thriving.Clearly this mix is the best and it isn't even the most expensive!

5Love It!

No more buckets, need I say more?? It vaccums and fills, and was very easy to install (took about 5 min to set up)! Filled my 30 gal tank in just a couple minutes. Now my buckets are used for washing the car.

5Can't say enough good things about this product
By David J. Werner
I originally owned the 25 foot model and loved it - we moved and I needed the 50 foot model. Cleaning our 150 gallon aquarium (36" height) is a breeze with this thing, and nary a drop of water hits the floor. I can't imagine changing the water using any other method. When we first got our aquarium the Python system was recommended to us, and I would pass the same recommendation on to any other aquarium owner/enthusiast. Buy it. Buy it now.

4A helpful tool
By J. Young
I bought this as a replacement for another No Spill Clean and Fill that I purchased in 2002. The hose had split because of a kink in the hose that resulted from storage. The negative about this product is that it is very difficult to store. After awhile, no matter how much you unravel the hose, it will kink and be extremely difficult to roll back up. Still, the hose lasted 4 years, which makes it a decent investment. In terms of water changes, it really depends on the size of your tanks. I have a 50 gallon, and it helps to use the Python for large water changes. *Frequent* water changes, which are supposed to increase as a result of using this product (according to Python themselves), aren't really that frequent because like I said above, it's a pain to unroll and roll back up. I would say that for anything less than 50 gallons, it's probably easier to bring out the bucket and siphon.Overall, this is a good product. I just wish there was an easier way to store the thing.

5MONSTER HATERS NEED NOT BUY - BUT 5 STARS FROM THIS AUDIOPHILE
By Cameron Monti
By now, you've all probably heard that Monster Cable is "overrrated" or "does very good marketing." Well, as a self-proclaimed audiophile, my first word of advice is that you must make sound quality determinations on your OWN - don't be strayed by others. That being said, the Monster Cable THX Ultra 1000 series of speaker cables are simply superb. I purchased the highly acclaimed QED Anniversary XT speaker cables (with QED airlocs) from the UK after reviewing the WHATS HI FI magazines article and "Product of the Year" award. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The Monster Cable ULT 1000 sounded significantly better than the QED's that cost nearly twice as much! The highs in the Monster Cable were clearly better and more pronounced in the Monster Cable and the bass sounded tighter and more full. Clean, clear, and detailed sound was apparent in both cables, but the range of sound was much more pronounced in the Monster Cable. My recommendation is ONLY with respect to this speaker cable (1000 version). I cannot attest to any other Monster Cable product. The only word of advice would be to purchase the Monster Cable 1000 WITH the banana plugs already attached. The newer Monster Cable speaker cable has this along with longer terminated ends (for more flexibility). The older version has shorter ends without banana ends - this has cause one cable I've owned to wear out due to twisting and movement of the wire.

5awesome cables
By Justin L. Wilder
I was hesitant about how good these cables would actually be, but once they arrived and i felt how heavy they were and how well the sheathing was made all doubts were erased, they perform excellently. I would definately recommend these to anyone interested in them but not interested in paying the monster price.

5Best flash player for exercise
By Sodalug
Shopping for an MP3 player is truly a daunting challenge. There are hundreds of brands and models to consider, each with countless features and capacities. The really bad part is that most of the time you can't really handle or operate them before your purchase. And given the large capacities, limited display and controls, how the thing really operates is of utmost importance, at least to me.The choices get easier if you can be honest about how you're actually going to use your player. If you're the kind of techno-wannabe jackass 'early adopter' who thinks its just too hip to walk around downtown with a pair of white iPod earbuds hanging off your empty head, you probably don't normally spend a lot of time carefully considering your purchases and thus, this kind of question is not for you. For me the clear answer was, 'while exercising', so a more reliable, no moving parts, flash based player was the inevitable choice. It wasn't easy to accept though, the incredible size of the hard drive based players at only a minimal additional cost was tantalizing. I drooled over the thought of ripping my hundreds of CDs and carrying my entire music collection in my pocket. For instance, while I consider the iPods too expensive, not to mention the lack of a replaceable battery, high capacity players such as the Creative Jukebox offer 30 GB and up starting at $200, that's only $20 more than my 256 MB Panasonic. Therefore unless running is on your agenda, I'd go with the disk based player.Although there are 512 MB flash players available, Panasonic didn't make one, and none of the others had the right mix of features I was looking for. So I decided this was enough space. At 128-bits I can fit about 6-8 albums on the player, which is pretty darn good.In general I'm not much of a brand snob. However, when it comes to consumer electronics, I am a strong believer in Panasonic gear. I have a phone, VCR, two DVD players, TV, and CD discman that have all served me unusually well. Obviously you can't argue with the quality of Apple built iPods, but I keep coming back to the stupidity of the battery situation. Otherwise the field is wide open, everyone from Dell to Sony to companies you never heard of are making players. I personally started out at Panasonic, but then wasted a lot of time comparing others, only to end right back where I started. Many of the other players I looked at had many complaints about battery door covers that break off, headphone jacks that failed, and buttons that broke off. I just didn't feel like taking a chance on quality at this price. So here are the final features that made the ultimate decision for me: * Removable Battery: this is a serious problem in my view with the iPods and other disk based players from the likes of Dell. It just shows how insane Mac zealots are that have bought the iPod that the inability to change the battery for no good reason was not a deterrent. That or the iPod is just that good, your call. Mine uses a single AAA battery, a NiMh rechargeable that cost $8 a pair. Its worth noting the Creative disk based players have removable Lithium Ion batteries which is a major bonus if such a player is on your list, but if your going flash, its really a non-issue. * Waterproof: whether sweat or rain, a player used during exercise is bound to get wet, so a water resistant player like the Shockwave is a must for me. Its also has heavy duty shock resistant casing. Some feel the disk based players can stand up to running, but I just don't think so. * FM Tuner: a no brainer to me, yet still absent from iPod, what gives? Digital tuner and 20 presets on mine, although setting them up was a bit confusing. * Drag & Drop File Transfer: basically, you plug the player into your USB port and it shows up as a removable drive, you then copy files over using Explorer, I like this simplicity. Most other players require some software to accomplish this. Though this may be comforting to noobs, I just consider it a waste of my time and a hassle. Plus, if you're away from your home computer, you're screwed unless you carry around the installation software if you want to transfer files. The players blue backlit 4 line display is nice and simple. I do wish it provided the ability to navigate subfolders, because as it is now you have to track forward and back though the entire contents of the memory, which can be a real chore if you're trying to get to song 98 out of 99. I can live with it though. The player includes a set of wrap-around earphones which have excellent sound and are very comfortable, a USB cable, a plastic belt clip carrying case, and a really nice elastic adjustable arm band - by far the best I've seen on any player. I also bought some tiny earbuds for incognito use, and a pair of running buds with little support arms that grab your ears. They work ok, but slide out sometimes and allow too much wind noise. I think the regular wrap headphones included, while bulkier, both sound better and stay on your head more surely. So that's about it, the Panasonic player gets my recommendation. No complaints so far.

4Not the best ... BUT IT JUST WON'T DIE !!!
By D. Hartmann
My wife and I have had a matching set of these for about 3 years now. They do not offer a lot of features and sometimes you need to press it a second (or third) time to shut it off, but as a workout MP3 player I have not found anything as rugged and reliable as this model. It is wild to think that the price of these has gone down over 75% since I first bought mine. I am soo tempted to buy one, but I already have two and they show no signs of dieing on my any time soon.dj

5Very rugged and dependable
By Mr Clark
I was entering a review for another item I bought and was shown a list of things I had purchased at the end and asked if I'd like to review them. I realized when I saw these on my list what a great product they really have been. They have been a part of life that you don't have to think about. Extremely dependable, and always there. Never have had any trouble whatsoever. oh, I have owned it for several years and have used it almost exclusively for running. The sound quality is wonderful. Better sound than I have had on any walkman or similar product. Good low notes and overall sound quality. The only drawback that I can think of is a relatively short battery life but each battery lasts about 2-3 weeks of runs. Great product that I spent more than twice as much for when I bought it and it was well worth the money.

5Phenomenal
By Robert A. Vogel
I have never used a GPS system before - the Foretrex 101 was the first system I purchased and I love it.I approached this purchase with much trepidation. My experience with techno-gadgets has not been good. Usually I find that I have to learn how some nerd/designer thinks in order to use the gadget. Life is too short to spend it remembering whether to punch the mode key or the enter key.Yet, I wanted to purchase a GPS system so that I do not get lost while hiking or kayaking in wilderness. I looked at a few GPS models and found the usual techno-insanity: You build a database of maps and routes on your PC, download that information to a small map display in the GPS system, take a hike, then upload your journey back into your PC where you can build and manage a database of journeys. Ugh! All I want is to find my campsite - not learn another database management system. So, I had almost given up on this purchase when I saw the Foretrex 101. No fancy color maps. Just a simple device which you wear on your wrist like a large watch. It displays a small map of your locale, your present location and the most important information required to travel to your intended destination.I purchased it, turned it on and took a walk through my neighborhood. It was brilliant: I watched a little walking person on my screen leave a trail which moved as I moved, and rotated as I turned. In order to get back home, I turned around and followed the trail displayed on the Fortrex screen. No fancy commands to learn - just a few intuitive buttons and I was finding my way around my own neighborhood just fine! But, I wondered, would it work when I went up to the Sierras? That weekend I tested it on trails that I knew - and it was amazing. The ranger station had the longitude and latitude coordinates of the campsite I had reserved - so I punched those into my Foretrex and proceeded to hike to the site. As I hiked, the navigation screen displayed an arrow which rotated as I turned so it was always pointing toward the campsite. It also displayed my present elevation and distance remaining to the site. (Those are two of several possible numbers I could have displayed on the navigation screen.) On the map screen, I saw a perfectly clear outline of the trail behind me as I walked towards camp - along with waypoints of my favorite lakes which I entered into the Foretrex as I arrived at each lake. When I arrived at my destination, it guided me to within 20 feet of my reserved campsite. The next day, when I hiked out, the Foretrex was just phenomenal. I saw the entire trail from the prior day displayed on my map screen - I followed it all the way back to the trail head. I could see the trail drift off the left of the little walking figure as I wandered off the trail to the right - and it was completely simple to walk back to the trail while watching the little guy on the map screen do the same! The Foretrex guided me all the way back to the trailhead - in fact, it guided me back to exact parking spot where my car was parked. Now I'm thinking about doing all kinds of things that I had never considered before: I could hike off trails, I could hike when trails are partially covered with snow, I could kayak in the fog and I am even thinking about giving a Foretrex to my wife - who has a terrible sense of direction - so she can go off on her own in the woods without me worrying about loosing her.I am finding some the the additional features really useful: It is nice to know my average speed and estimated time to arrive at my destination. I like to know my elevation to get a sense of the effort remaining on a tough climb - or my average paddle speed in the kayak to see the effect of wind and current on my progress. I have even discovered the Foretrex works fine in my car - and it is useful to punch in waypoints to show tricky intersections which I always forget, or the location of convenient Starbucks along the way. I even used it to test the accuracy of my speedometer (and discovered that my speedometer reads about 4% too fast, which probably explains why I never get any speeding tickets).I do have three complaints about it. First, I was confused at one point when the map screen showed a weird spike pointing off from the side of the trail. It appeared as if I had made a side excursion in a straight line for about one half a mile, and then returned along the exact same line back to the trail. It was obviously an error - the excursion was perfectly straight, and I know I did not make it - so I just assumed that the Foretrex got one position measurement wrong and I ignored it. But since this occurred on the second day I owned the device, at first I didn't know what to make of it.Secondly, I discovered that it is awkward to save small parts of the day's journey (the "track log") in the Foretrex's list of saved tracks. It is easy to save the entire journey made since the last time I cleared the track log - and with some effort I can select a portion of the journey to save. However, I found it impossible to select just the kayaking portion of my day's journey and save it separately from the car trip to and from the lake. Finally, I discovered that one pair of AAA batteries lasts only about 12 hours. (I intentionally depleted the batteries without changing them to see whether the Foretrex would loose any information or become disoriented in any way. When I inserted a new pair, the Foretrex picked up right where it left off, without missing a beat!)These are very minor glitches. Overall, this device has a very simple intuitive user interface and it has opened up whole new possibilities for getting around. It may even save my life some day.

5Amazing
By Christopher Moellering
I have had a Garmin GPS12 for several years and liked it and saw no need to upgrade for my purposes (hiking and geocaching). But when I saw the Foretrex on Amazon I was intrigued and put it on my Christmas list after looking about both this and the Forerunner.I am really impressed. It does just about everything my 12 does but in a smaller package. The ergonomic sense of wearing it on my wrist is just awesome. Being able to wear it while running and see my speed, to see my info while hinking without having to dig for my GPS from a pocket or pouch. If it was just a scaled-down 12 it would be worth it.But, no...there's more. The trip computer page is great. Pick the info you want from dozens of fields and choose where you want them displayed. Simple and easy to configure. It's great. It's like being able to have a purpose-made GPS screen for whatever activity you're doing.Their is WAAS support as well. In layman's terms it makes the GPS more accurate, which, of course, is a good thing.Probably my only con on this unit would be the lack of external power connection. This really only comes into play in the car. (Where it mounts handily on my rear-view mirror using the wrist strap.)Battery life is good for only using 2 AAA's. A Set of rechargables is a logical investment with this unit. Speaking of batteries, the reason I choose the 101 over the 201 is the ability to use batteries. There aren't many power outlets in the woods for recharging and I do enjoy backpacking and longer trips on occasion.

4great product with minor faults
By Simone Roncali
I've been using the Garmin e-trex gps for a few years so it was very easy to use the Foretrex 101 out of the box. It's very accurate and intuitive, satellite reception is good, even when you have it at your wrist and you're driving the car. Of course heavy forest on cloudy days or city canyons do block the signal, but are there portable gps that don't have this problem?Although Garmin makes a running specific unit, the Foretrex is perfect for runners as not only keeps track of speed, average speed, max speed, time, distance, total distance, vertical speed etcetera, but it also plots the track, so it's always easy to return to the starting point even in unknown places or in the countryside. Plus it has all the navigation ability of the classic portable gps, like compass, route, bearing, time to destination and so on.So it's great for hiking, boating (with small boats) but it is also an extraordinary cycle computer (no wheel measure to insert or magnets and pick-ups to fix) and a motorbike navigation aid.I can't wait to check my speed down the ski slopes, wearing it over the jacket, with the wrist band extension.Talking about wrist band, I have a 7"/18cm wrist and I use the wrist band at maximum elongation, so a guy with an 8" wrist would be *******. The extension is good to wear the gps over thick sleeves but too long for big wrist people (over 7").Also, the interface cable is optional (standard on the 201) and you do need it in case you want to download software upgrades. The back light works very well.Oh, one great thing is that you can actually program the screen to display the information you want, so basically you can quickly adapt the GPS to the actual use.It works very well with NiMH batteries and can be kept in battery save mode all the time without significant accuracy loss, so to extend battery life. I do recommend rechargeables as nowadays you can get two AAA 750mA NiMH for 6 bucks. To summarise, the unit is great and I detracted 1 point for the short strap and for the interface cable which in China cost 30 cents to produce and I think should be included in the package.
