Best of Both Worlds

It's hard to find a high-end DVD/CD player with 5 disc capability. Most today are only single disc. The SACD audio is awesome, but make sure you use the individual channel outputs for SACD as the optical out does not work on SACD for my tuner. Picture clarity is great and near HD quality. If you want a single unit to run high-end DVD and audio, buy this unit. The only complaint I have is that there is not a shuffle button on the unit, you have to use the remote.

It's good, but...

This is supposedly Sony's "top-of-the-line" dvd player. The panel controls are minimalist (featuring a useless chapter skipping KNOB?!?!). The picture quality is very good. I have a REAL problem though with the remote. It feels CHEAP. The first dvd player I ever bought was a Sony single-disc DVP-S500D player. It cost about as much as this one, yet everything about it was infinitely better designed, especially the on-screen menus. The remote that came with that player, the RMT-D102A, felt heavy, solid, hard, and built-to-last. Unfortunately, with this new player, the remote (RMT-D160A) feels terrible in your hand. The buttons are again, CHEAP. I had to take it back to the retailer because the "nipple-stick" was off-center and stopped working after only 5 months. Inexcusable. The menus on the NC555ES do not look very good. They take up too much of the screen, and the colors feature way too much blue. There are a number of picture controls that hardly produce any noticeable changes. Not only that, but the responsiveness of menu selections and even the dvd layer transitions are SLOW. This is profoundly disappointing for a name like Sony, and for their ES line...well, it just boggles the mind why the quality has slipped operationally. It also isn't a fully universal player. It does not playback DVD-Audio, only their proprietary technology, SACD. As a loyal Sony buyer, this is a huge disappointment. Spend a little more money, Sony, and produce a better player and REMOTE CONTROL than this.

Great rack, easy to install.

I recently bought this rack to fit on our 2004 Toyota RAV-4. It installs pretty easily - you have to take the spare tire off to mount it, and the first install can take up to 45 minutes when fiddling with the spare. But I especially like that I can keep the mounting hardware connected and still replace the tire cover. That way each time we travel we only need to slip off the tire cover and attach the main rack (what you see in the photo).The bikes secure like a sandwich - the top piece which secures the bike frames to the rack comes with two securing bolts, one of which is lockable (key included). Which is nice if you want to stop for something to eat (or some other errand) on the way back from your ride.The bikes felt very secure during our drive on the highway.

Super bike rack

I just completed a 500 mile trip to Maine with three bikes on this rack. It was attached to my CR-V. We encountered all types of road surfaces from high speed highway to dirt roads and the rack preformed very well. The bikes (two mountian and one kids) were held firm and without any sway or wobble. To mount and dismount the rack was a piece of cake. The only thing I had to do was purchase a conversion tube for my daughter's bike as it is of the modern kids style that has a large frame tube.

GREAT SOLID & SECURE BIKE RACK

We sought a spare tire bike rack to use with our '05 Honda CRV and this rack fits the bill par excellence! This rack works great. It's solid, easy to install, and includes lock-down security which is a real plus. The rear gate also readily opens and closes when bikes are on the rack.Security is two-fold: 1) the bike rack itself can be locked down (using the padlock of your choice - we use a secure, hard-to-cut padlock) and 2) the bikes can be locked onto the rack with the supplied locking bolt. (Only 1 key is included for the locking bolt, which I thought was an error so called Surco who'll send a spare at $5 each; we opted to get a 2nd one made through a locksmith - which also cost $5.)This rack installed with no problem and is SOLID -- the bikes don't budge once tightened down into the rubber-padded wedges between two plates. While the two bolts do take a while to fully tighten or loosen to remove the top plate - it's also possible (if only 1 or 2 bikes are on the rack) to just loosen the bolts enough to slip the bike frame to or from the inner or outer wedges, and lift the bike through and off of the bike rack.I also like that the rack is easy to remove while keeping the rack plate bolted behind the tire AND the spare tire cover fits (without having to remove that plate bolted behind tire).Lastly, because CRV spare tire is off-center, when loading 2 or 3 large bikes, one or two may extend past the side of the car a bit, but that hasn't been a problem (other than maybe causing some drag, but not bad). Most important is that the bikes are SOLID and SECURE. We highly recommend this bike rack.

Amazing product...

This kit comes with (almost) everything you need to get started right away.The thing I had to supply (besides the air compressor), was a Male fitting so I could attach/detach it to/from my air compressor easily. But, that's neither here nor there considering there is no way the company could package the 100's of possible connectors. I am only stating this so you know when you purchase this, you may want to invest in one.Anyway, I plugged in my air compressor, cranked it to 65 PSI, poured in the powder and away I went...What makes this kit ultra-cool is that it comes with a moisture filter built in to the air line. This is *critical* when working with that fine powder. If you don't have a filter in-line, then you will clog up constantly because of moisture in the air tanks.They literally thought of everything with this kit. From a mouth/nose mask to the little wrenches to help take things apart.The one thing that would make this kit 110% complete, would be to supply a few pipe cleaners so you can clean your tool out when you are done... but, I am just one of those crazy neat-freaks when it comes to my tools. I don't know if you absolutely have to clean it out or not.Anyway -- get this kit if you are new to the business. Within the first 5 minutes of getting the kit opened, I was etching metal, glass and plastic with absolutely no problems with 100% ease.IMPORTANT FOR ALL AIR ERASERS: Do not forget to put on a mask and safety goggles... this powder goes everywhere. It will bounce off the material and right in to your eyes. Don't do this in your living room either. It makes a mess.THANKS!

Excellent!

I bought this for working on plastic models. I've found it great for weathering vinyl tires and removing paint in delicate areas. While it takes time with the fine abrasive it's well worth effort. It will blast a very fine line ( less than 1/8"). I would recommend for any hobby or profession that needs super fine removal!

Great bike rack for my Jeep

Purchased the rack for my Jeep Wrangler, needed the extension to clear the rear tire. Work great, very secure. My only complaints, does not come with hitch pin ( need to buy a locking pin anyway, Masterlock sells them ), and only one key for the lock on the bike rack. I always like to have a spare.

This adapter worked perfectly for my application. I swapped a 1JZ motor into a MX83 Toyota Cressida. This adapter helped convert the signal from the engine harness so that the factory cluster could read it.

GREAT PRINTER - BUT ANNOYING PAPER-CURLING PROBLEM!

This is a great department printer (here at work). I'm not sure why this happens to it, but the paper curls after it comes out of the printer, requiring you to spend time curling it the other way just to straighten the paper out. I'm not sure if this necessarily happens because of the printer, but it sure is annoying. You'll often walk by the printer and see a pile of printouts in a big "U" shape, instead of just a flat pile. The second problem with this is that a U-shaped pile tricks the printer into thinking the output bay is at full capacity when it really isn't that tall of a pile.Just wanted to get that off my chest! :) Add a comment if you have the same problem!Thanks,Jon

Legos are great toys to begin with, and this one, with its own Crockodile is very cool. The blocks are extra-large versions of Legos for little kids (preschool). The Crock has a flap sweeper on the front that "eats" the Lego blocks when you push the mouth over them. Works for other stuff too (amazing what kids think a Crock will "eat"). Older kids liked it, too. The neighbors' 5 year old got a kick out of sweeping up cars and such.

Unreliable, quit just after warranty was up!

When this MSD Ignition 8680 Timing Controller worked, it worked well and I could adjust the timing from the driver's seat for different conditions. If I was in traffic I could advance the timing to get the engine to run a little cooler. If I needed higher idle speed when the engine was cold (no choke, race carb), I would just advance the timing. For optimum performance I could adjust the timing accordingly. It allows 15 degrees of adjustment. It is relatively easy to install and I am using it with an MSD billet ready-to-run distributor and a MSD Digital 6 Plus Ignition unit. Overall when everything was working, the engine (502 ci 600hp) ran great and started easily with no kickback (20 deg retard from Digital 6 Plus ignition unit). The engine even started great when hot. Overall a great unit with one major exception. It quit working just over a year after I bought. I doubt that it even has 500 miles on it. The unit is installed in the passenger compartment so it never gets hot or wet (car is not driven in the rain anyway). I really expected better from MSD as they are supposed to be the best. So that is a $150 down the drain and I hate to think that every year I'm going to have to buy a new one. If you are willing to risk the cost and downtime when it fails, then go for it. I need this system for this particular car and so I'm going to buy two so that I have a spare for when it fails again.I sent in the failed MSD controller and was pleasantly surprised when the repair cost was only $11.50! But with shipping both ways, the total came to about $35, still not a bad cost for repairing a $150 controller. Because of this very reasonable repair cost, I have changed my rating to 3 stars.

MSD 8680 Timing Controller

I bought this for a high compression big inch Hemi that I was having 'hot start' problems with.After installation of the 8680 Timing Controller from MDS, I was able to pull (10 degrees) timing out during start up and put the advance back in once the car was started.After installtion, and figuring out I needed to cut the white wire, I noticed an immediate difference in how the car started. In fact, it spun over with the ease of a modern day stocker, and fires right up after a few rotations. Simply spin the dial back to your "base" setting and you're ready to put the hammer down.The reason I bought this unit instead of the timing start/retard box, was that it allows me, in the event I'm not able to source race gas, to pull timing out of the engine to accomodate a tank or so of 93 octane, from the drivers seat - and the functional ranges exceed my requirements - but enables me to use it in the event I throw nitrous on the car later.This is a great product, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a simple timing retard/advance device that offers the convenience of 'in cab' adjustments on-the-fly.David

Lego has done it again. They are really going after the Ferrari F1 fans here, I think. This set, for including its own base-plate, and Ferrari licensed, is reasonably priced and very close to a real pit lane. It is durable enough to play with, but mine is used as a display, and looks great next to the 1/10 F1 car - 8386.
