Good light ...short life

Good lights...except they dont last very long. I have had 2 so far in 8 years.Naturally the bulbs have to be replaced but the internal wiring becomes hard and brittle and no longer functions.I just bought 4 new bulbs...approx $25 each but they wont all work. So do I buy a whole new unit that will last maybe 3 years. Or change to a new product. But I know this one will fit. Hmmmmmm?? Maybe this is typical of all lights?

DANNER 9.5 MAG DRIVE PUMP

I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL DANNER PUMPS INCLUDING THREE OR FOUR OF THIS MODEL OVER THE 25 YEARS SINCE I BUILT A KOI/ WATERLILY POND. THEY FUNCTION WELL BUT EVENTUALLY WEAR OUT. WHAT GOES IS THE IMPELLER NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AND EVENTUALLY THE ROUND HOLE IN THE BODY WHERE THE IMPELLER DWELLS BECOMES WORN, OUT OF ROUND AND WITH GROOVES WORN INTO IT THAT THE PUMP BECOMES NON-FUNCTIONAL. THEN IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I MAKE A POINT OF CLEANING THE INPUT WEEKLY AND KEEP THE PUMP OFF THE FLOOR OF THE POND TO LIMIT PICKING UP DEBRIS. THEY ARE GENERALLY STURDY, WELL FUNCTIONING PUMPS.

I've been using this for about a year and no complaints. Appears to be a well made pump. Strong pump. Very quiet for how much water it moves.Easily gets 5 stars based on what I paid for it. Other pumps I've owned around this price were not as good.

Good complete kit

This is a nice kit, I really like the case. It does have every test you would need for a planted freshwater and a saltwater tank.The case makes it nice and easy to test. You can use the case as a test tube holder while you add drops if you need an extra hand. The pipettes make it easy to get and add water to the test tubes. It's easy to read the results of the tests except for the pH. I did get frustrated with the pH test because some of the colors are so close it makes it harder to get an exact reading. But you can get it with practice. However, I have been having problems with my pH and was testing so much I just bought a HM Digital PH-200 Waterproof pH and Temperature Meter. So I use the kit for everything else besides the pH and will occasionally compare the kit pH to the meter.The color charts for the tests are on the back cover of each individual test booklet. Each test comes with its own little test booklet that tells you how to do the test in multiple languages.So if you have a planted tank or saltwater tank or just want to have all the tests this is a nice test kit. But if you just want a test kit for all the needed parameters for freshwater then all you really need is the API FRESHWATER MASTER TEST KITOne thing that is annoying is the caps for the test tubes are loose and as long as you hold it by the top and the bottom of the tube it is sealed just fine for shaking the chemicals to mix them. But when you pull the top off it is very likely that you will get some of the contents of the tube on your fingers. The test tube caps could be designed a whole lot better.

Runs for only one season

I bought one of these that broke after one season and was returned under warranty. The replacement pump also broke at the start of the second season so I bought the replacement impeller kit which was the item that broke. That lasted only 4 months. I have a 1000 gallon pond in the northeast and run this for 8 hours each day for 7 months before it's removed and stored in the basement.Each time, the problem is with the ceramic bearing in the base. After several months, it loosens and begins to rotate along with the impeller. This gouges out the bearing seat and causes the impeller to rub against the sides of the base and finally breaks the ceramic shaft of the impellor. The base bearing cannot be removed so the pump is now useless.Although it has only one moving part, that part is a huge problem. Two pumps, same problem three times.Cheers....

Powerful Pump

I have been using this pump for about a month, and it has been working well. It pumps a pond at the bottom of a waterfall, through a filter, and into the upper pond. The lift is about 3 ft, so I get about 500 gph for the system.The pump seems sturdy and well built. No problems so far.The only issue with the order is that the description said the filter was a foam block, when in fact it was a plastic cage. I don't have an issue with this because the cage works better in my application (pumping some silt is not an issue).

Best Pump I have Ever Had

I have had this pump for about three years now and it has taken a beating and kept on pumping. On its third spring some plant material was sucked into the impeller and ended up breaking it. I just ordered a new impeller for 25 bucks dropped it in and all better. POND MAG is the best. By the way replacement parts are easy to find and easy to change.

Only thing the freakin' bird will eat

I've never had to deal with a macaw before, but I've had cats and dogs and other animals for whom I have provided care over a number of years. None of them compare to this bird. This macaw is the most finicky eater I've ever known, inclusive of any of my children or myself. If it does not get this stuff, it screams and caws and generally makes a noise that leaves me wondering why mayhem is illegal. However, when it does get this food, it's (relatively) quiet(er) and the value for this size bag absolutely blows away anything you can get locally.

One of the best air pumps on the market.

I have used many air pumps and besides the old trusty Whisper 1000, which is no longer available, this is the best in my opinion. It will have no trouble pumping down to 4 feet of water and still have good volume of air. Unlike the Whisper 1000, the 300 is not adjustable. The current image for Amazon is that of the 150 model. The 300 has two out lets.I have one for my 4 feet deep pond for about a year and another for my fish room for six months. The on in the fish room is powering 6 air stones at 20 inches of depth with impressive amonts of air. Both have performed well and have been reliable. I plan to buy another one to keep around as a spare.The pump is rather on the quiet side as far as noise is concerned, but I dont recommend it for a bed room or other areas where quietness is desired. You will hear the hum.The key to longivity for these air pump is frequent replacement of the air stones. These pumps will last much longer if you keep the back pressure to a minimum. This sounds like common sense, but a lot of people just dont bother with this and then blame the pump failure on poor quality of the pump.

Failed in 3 Months, but replaced under warranty

The pump initially worked very well, being both quiet and powerful. However, after 89 days of service it failed completely. It was pumping air into a depth of 2 feet.Update: Contacted manufacturer. The unit is under warranty and they committed to replace it. The new pump arrived and works well.

Powerful and Quiet ~ LOTS of bubbles from this badboy!

For the money, this air pump cannot be beat. It is very powerful and works at greater depths than some of the "cheaper" ones on the market ~ I have 5 old smaller pumps that have been retired after purchasing this beast. It has two places to hook up tubing to. I then split each of those and it is powering four air "devices" in my 125 gallon goldfish only aquarium. This is actually the second one I have purchased. The first lasted about two years when one side decided to put out less air. Called Tetra and I could have purchased a kit to replace the internal parts that have worn out but by the time I bought the parts and paid for shipping, I was at half the cost of a brand new one. I will just keep the old one for parts should I need it.This runs pretty darn quiet for a high output air pump. My tank is in my main living room (where the family hangs out and watches TV) and it is NOT a distraction at all. I do have it on a dedicated shelf mounted to the wall and it sits on a folded up towel to absorb any vibrations.Highly recommend if you desire HIGH air output on several tubing lines!!!

Get what you pay for type item.

This is a "Get what you pay for item".... I have only a 800 gallon pond, but it gets a lot of sun and has more fish than it should,so a good uv light (and filter) is a must. You can find a 18 watt light for about half the price if you look hard enough but it will only last a season.
