Great Receiver, Even Better Price

This is my first digital receiver, and I'm loving it. I just hooked up a Sony center channel speaker (ss-cnk 10 ed), and a sony 8" sub-woofer. I already had 2 cabinet speakers (4 way 6 speakers, 70 watt max power). The sound quality is great, and the speaker setting is detailed but easy. The manual gives helpful hints of how to best surround yourself with sound. If you are more advance in knowing the best set up for your home, the customize portion allows you to arrange set ups the best.Also, I run my Xbox, T.V. (Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV), and Scott turntable through it, which helps not only to localize my components but it does help with clairty on all fronts. There is nothing like hearing the pops and crackles from my record albums with such depth and definition. Playing video games and watching movies are a submerged experience. Before I even bought my subwoofer and center speakers, the two cabinet speakers worked really well for me with producing clear sound. I highly recommend this item not only for beginners into the foray of digital surround sound, but anyone because the price makes the purchase that much sweeter.

Big bang for the bucks!

This is a great receviver,I have hade mine for about 3 months and it will do everything.I have a sony DVD recorder running through it and it makes the whole room move. It's not the best but vary few would be able to tell it.

A great 2-channel receiver for the price.

Gosh, I just don't even know what to say about some of the other reviews. (the negative ones) In short, they are wrong. If you have audiophile tastes, I'm sure this won't measure up. It seems like many people were expecting this to sound like an $1,000.00 amp. It may not sound like that, but it does, however, sound as good as amps 3 times it's price. I have owned many amps over the years, and this one works great in every way. For 95% of the consumers out there, this has plenty of power. If you have specific needs for more wattage, then buy an amp with more wattage for Pete's sake! If you have specific needs for audiophile quality output, then buy another amp for Pete's sake! This amp is made for the every day radio/music listener. it isn't made for people with specific audio needs. Don't listen to the bad reviews on this, seriously. They are written by people who should have known better than to buy this in the first place. They are written by BMW drivers who bought a Toyota and want to complain that it doesn't have BMW performance.

Just What the Doctor Ordered

If you're looking for an economical FM/AM receiver, with plenty of power to rattle the windows and a straightforward operating approach, look no further. The Sony STRDE197 not only deleivers crisp, clean reception, ease of tuning and the ability to connect audio components such as a CD player and MD/tape deck, it does it with a minimum of fuss.My 13 year old JVC receiver recently gave up the ghost, I didn't want to replace it with another receiver full of features that I seldom used and sometimes didn't fully understand. I already had a separate surround sound set-up and was looking for something that would allow me to listen to music via FM radio and CDs and with power enough to run two sets of speakers. I found that and more in this Sony product. Even the operating instructions are easy to follow. Imagine!

Use your head

Some of the complaints concerning this item are valid, but it is clear to me that others did not do their research!Check the resistance of your speakers. This amp is designed to operate at 8 ohms. 100 watts of power is only 100 watts of power with the right speaker set. and by the way... you must times the watts by ten to raise the volume 10 dBs, so the difference in volume from 35 watts to 100 watts is only a few dBs.And don't run your speakers in parallel (through the same inputs), this will cause too much current to run through your speakers and overload the amp.

Awesome, highly recommended

This is one of the best cameras of its size. I used it to catch someone breaking into my car back in 2004 in a home-made set up. Although the video is B/W (because it was dark and the car is all grey/black inside) and it's YouTube video (highly compressed).When enough light is available it displays in color, but automatically switches to black'n'white mode when it gets dark. I picked this camera because it had the best lux rating for its size, meaning it sees very well in the dark. It's not perfect and needs some light, but I haven't seen anything better to date.It was originally captured at 640x480 and looks very crisp. The police said it was the best security video they'd ever seen-- much better than anything they get from store robberies, etc. You can also see a cleaner 320x240 video, although edited for fun, at www.BadThief.comI now have the same camera sitting outside so I can see my driveway. It's been working non-stop for 2 years in hot and cold weather.

Excellent Mouse with Idiosyncracies

I upgraded from a wired MS Intellimouse Optical, which I loved until its LED intermittently turned off and MS Windows failed to recognize what sort of USB device it was. This behavior continued even after downloading the latest drivers and when connected to another computer. So it surely was moving onto its next life.Shopping for a replacement, I considered wired and wireless, Microsoft and Logitech. Wireless was a huge draw, especaially since it cost just about the same amount. Comparing wireless devices between Microsoft and Logitech, Microsoft had tilt wheel for the majority of the mice I liked. Logitech included tilt wheels only on their more expensive MX line (Cordless Click! models didn't look very nice IMO). I would have loved to get the Cobalt version but for some reason that one cost almost twice as much as this Crimson Fire. Purchased through an Amazon Seller, I received it on my doorstep for about $19 plus $4 shipping and handling. Unopened in retail package, it was a fantastic value!I've been using it for a month and here are a list detailing my impression of it:Pros1. Easy and instant setup (because I had a MS Intellimouse Optical previously, all I had to do was select the MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 in the Intellipoint software and I was up and running)2. Aesthetically pleasing (still love the Crimson Fire motiff)3. Ergonomically designed, very comfortable, and every button is in intuitive reach (I have big hands and use a gel pad with integrated palm rest)4. Functional (5 programable buttons plus tilt wheel--love the tilt wheel, great for spreadsheets and web surfing)5. Responsive and precise (no lag of any sort, excellent for Unreal Tournament or Photoshop)6. Fantastic build quality (tactilely pleasing, materials feel first-rate and craftsmanship is superb)6. Battery included and is advertised to last about 6 monthsCons1. LED does not turn off (as soon as the right battery is inserted, the LED light turns on and never turns off ever; MS has a Knowledge Base solution saying that it should turn off when the computer shuts down and the mouse is plugged into the USB--never happens; it continues to say that if it does not turn off, it shouldn't be a problem; seems like this will drain the battery--will it still reach 6 months of battery life?; currently, I remove the batteries each time I am done with my computer)http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;3259752. Large transmitter base (I have a Targus presentation device that has a transmitter the size of a flash memory--small and functional it plugs into the USB; why couldn't MS do the same?)3. No visual cue indicating the LED light is on like the MS Intellimouse Optical (same complaint as a previous review, it would be nice to see when it is on; turn it over however and you'd expect the LED to be off when the computer is off)4. With batteries in place, the mouse is heavy (not problematic if you don't lift your mouse but I do once in a while; wish it were as light as the Intellimouse Optical)5. Isn't ambidextrous like the Intellimouse Optical (I use my mouse in conjunction with a laptop and locate my mouse wherever I have room, that's left or right of my computer, so this definitely curtails my options)Despite some idiosyncratic design choices highlighted in the Cons list, I love my mouse. My only real complaint is the constant LED. Does anyone have any suggestions on turning the LED off? Or should the LED just remain on all the time? I would still purchase the mouse knowing what I know now. It's a great mouse and if the LED turned off when it should, I would rate this a 5.

This is nice

I could perhaps be acussed of being a technoglogy neanderthal but this is my first wireless mouse. I am pleasantly surprised by the ease of use and the fluidity of this device. There are a lot of other products with similar features out there. I think that anyone looking for a high feel with low end price would be happy with this product.

Wow, another great piece of hardware by Microsoft, you cannot go wrong if you pick up this wireless mouse. Signal is strong, the mouse is very comfortable to use for hours upon hours, and the setup was a breeze. Yes, Logitech makes some nice keyboard/mice, but I always seem to prefer Microsoft's stuff. I don't want to support Microsoft but I find their hardware to be more comfortable and better design goes into their products. You will not be disappointed if you pick up this mouse!!!***** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

It's nice, but takes getting used to.

This is quite a nice mouse. I switched over from an earlier wired intellimouse, so the change wasn't all too dramatic, but it certainly took some getting used to.Having it be wireless was quite nice. I had trouble with my wire getting caught in several places on my desk, so having no wire is pretty handy.The smooth scrolling wheel is very nice for most applications you use for viewing or typing [Word, the Internet, scrolling through music], but it is very hard for games. I play counter-strike, and when switching weapons, I am used to feeling a click in my middle finger. Without the resistance, it was pretty hard to select a weapon correctly. Yet, besides gaming, the smooth scroll is nice.The forth and fifth buttons, generally used for back and forward in your web browser, are set very high, as compared to other intellimouses. My hand fits very well into its design, but when I need to use the extra buttons, I have to remove my thumb from its happy and comfortable position and move it up to reach them. Its not a huge hassle, but a concern if you are even more lazy than myself.This is a fine product and is well worth the money. It fits my medium-sized hand very well and allows for clean and easy movement. Overall, a great mouse.

Awesome mouse!

Well, this is a great mouse! The scroll is great to use for those LONG web pages, my hand is small enough to use the extra buttons on the side with very little effort, it is very smooth on my mouse pad, as far as I can tell there is NO lag time, and the scroll button on my mouse is quite easy to use. This mouse has actually increased my frag count in my favorite games. I recommend this mouse.
