5Bustin' Bricks with Bon
By Jeffrey A. Flathers
In the midst of an extensive backyard remodel, I remain quite happy with my Bon Brickbuster. Shipping was quick---about one week---and the price was right (just over $300). Blue in color, and light in weight, the Brickbuster is surprisingly easy to use, and requires very little force to split pavers. In fact, I had my 90 pound daughter-in-law cut a couple pavers for me, just to demonstrate to her how easy it was. I am giving the equipment an A+ for ease of operation and overall effectiveness. Previously I had used a wet masonry saw to cut bricks, but never again will I go back to the dust, noise and bother of the saw. I'll just keep lining up the pavers between my Brickbuster splitting blades, pressing down on the handle, and feeling the satisfying "Crack!" as another one cleaves in two. Have fun with your paver projects! Jeff F., Pacific Grove, CA.

5Bon Tool Brick Buster a Winner!
By D. Yost
-I needed to cut pavers for a deck. I could buy or rent a cutoff saw, or rent some kind of a tool that breaks bricks. Renting is not a good option as you have to do the entire job in as little time as possible. Or face a lot of expense. So, after a bit of research, I bought the Bon Tool Brick Buster. I am writing this review because there is little information available about this tool so I thought I'd get my two cents worth in.- The tool costs $350 to $400. About the same as you'd pay for a cheap knock-off Chinese brick/tile cutoff saw. The tool cuts bricks/pavers by putting tremendous pressure on the top and bottom of the brick/paver with a triangular cross-section blade. It breaks the brick by compression on the top and bottom of the brick, with the pressure precisely aligned. If you are lucky, the break is very clean and straight.-Sometimes there are slight anomalies to the straightness of the break. If it matters, you can knock the high points down with a hammer. You cannot make cuts close to the edge of the brick/paver. However, once you get the geometry figured out, you can work the cuts easily to within the constraints of the tool. If you do get a bad cut, you save the pieces for re-cutting and use somewhere else later. Pavers/bricks are cheap, so no big deal. However, I have encountered very little waste with this machine. Also, a bonus... the slightly ragged/jagged edges of the break match the natural edge of the pavers, and look much more authentic than an edge that has been cut with a cutoff saw. A small detail, but it's the little things.- Okay, also... the machine is made in the USA, is very solidly constructed, and small enough to be easily stored when you're done using it; unlike a cutoff saw.-No water, no dust, no terrible noise when cutting (although occasionally a brick breaking will make quite a bang!). One last note: my pavers got thoroughly soaked in an early rainstorm, and then they seemed to break much more easily and true than when they were bone dry. I have to explore this further.- I wanted to show a photo of how well this machine did my pavers, but Amazon wants video; 'beyond me. However,I have finished my first project with the pavers, and trust me,it turned out great!- I spent a lot of money for this thing, but it is proving to be a good purchase. I took a chance buying it, but, luckily, it has proved its worth.

4Splits pavers quickly with no dust
By D. Whitney
Takes some getting used to, but its working out nicely. You have to play with the tension ball adjustment for each cut to get just the right leverage on the arm. The arm could stand to be a few inches longer to get more leverage. Produces very straight cuts along the top and bottom surfaces of the paver, but in between, in the middle of the brick, it's pretty rough and will need to cleaned up with an angle grinder diamond blade. You can't always do cuts that are less than an inch from the edge of the paver because of the gap in the paver shelf around the blade. Seems like they could have reduced the gap to mitigate this issue.
