4Pro: It's hardwood! Con: It's not as solid as it should be.
By D. Tonya
This is a very nice spinner rack. The top, bottom, and 4 side poles are all solid oak. This isn't veneer over particle board. However, the 'shelves' are. Not that this would be a problem, but how the spinner is assembled calls into question the corners Wood Technologies has cut in order to boost their profit margin. Each shelf is actually an entire 2'x2' section just like the top and bottom caps. Each shelf rests on exactly 4 pins, one in each side pole. The problem arises from the fact that the shelves come dangerously close to not resting on the shelf pins due to the 'slack' between side poles. Now the shelves have never fallen for me. However I have also been quite wary of that possibility when spinning the rack.I'm kind of disappointed that Wood Technologies couldn't come up with a better design than this given the high cost of the unit. However, this may not be an issue for many of you if you have a relatively small collection. However, I have over 2000 cds and I filled this rack to capacity and all that weight on spinner causes the base pieces to touch when spinning. So don't spin it too fast or the whole thing might torque itself apart!

5Wow, talk about quality and easy assembly!
By Courtland J. Carpenter
The worst thing I can think of to say about this at the start is that you'll have shelves left over if you are going to use it for VHS tapes or DVD's. Nothing in the box tells you that, so you better do the math, and "not" put the shelves in to begin with. I think I had to leave out at least three. Contrast this with 95 percent of the storage units like this on the market with cheap, laminated, imitation wood particle board stucture as well as shelves, and sometimes hundreds of parts, glue, and other hardware to install. Now for the good stuff. The wood here is a solid hardwood structure, where only the shelves are made of a black painted particle board. The bottom is two hardwood squares already joined with a high quality, ball bearing, turnstyle. It turns easy, even when fully loaded it will flat out spin. The assembly, although possible with one person, (I did it with just me) is helpful to have two people, but just for a few minutes. You basically have two screws for each end of four side boards to join to the top and bottom support boards. That's a total of 16 screws, you put in some supporting rods in the middle and add the shelves which you'll pull up and attach after putting on the top board. Remember to count the shelves and measure so you know the number of shelves needed. If you miscount you'll have to remove the top and add more. The shelves are attached by 4 metal side pins like you see on most adjustable shelves, one near each corner. since they're square not retangular. They've glued backstop seams on the shelves so your DVD's etc won't get pushed to the back. It's an inspired design. Total assembly time 25 minutes by myself, I kid you not. The last shelve unit I built to hold 440 DVD's, took me six hours, and had over a thousand parts to assemble. I never could get the doors to hang right! This one even the non-handy can do, but remember it's hardwood, and the boxes they deliver (two) are heavy.Sturdy, heck I could sit on the top of this thing. The hardwood is almost an inch thick, and very strong, no bowing at all. As for storage, well it says 560 DVD's, and I put on nearly 600 on the shelves, and then another hundred on top of the unit for 700! You can even get in a lot more if needed as the middle is empty, and you can hide things or put extra DVD's or CD's etc. behind the displayed items. I had poor access to my collection when it was in this big open door cabinet. I had some titles so hard to see that I forgot I had them, and bought duplicates. Here now I can see everything with just a little spin. One word of caution though, don't spin it too fast or your DVD's may come flying out, that turnstyle is just too good. Shipping is typically free, which really means it's in the price. It would be expensive because of the weight. This is one of the few assembly items of furniture I've ever been happy with, so I'm sure you will too if you like the picture, and need the storage.

4Great DVD storage
By J. Simms
I've had this DVD shelf for 1 1/2 years. It's been great and is holding up well. Only complaint is that after tons of spinning it (once in a blue moon) seems to get at "the end" and you have to spin the other direction--again, very rare. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars.
