Have had the Mason Pearson nylon/bristle version of this brush which has been excellent for thick long hair, but should not be used on wet hair. So I got this one to fill that gap, but the stimulation this thing gives to the scalp borders on the indecent. Also a great detangler.

I have very fine, fragile hair and have always used cheap drugstore brushes to detangle it when wet (combs just seem to add more tangles). I heard good things about the Mason Pearson brand and my mother had a Mason Pearson boar bristle brush from the time she was a teenager to when I was in elementary school (>10 years). I ordered this brush as a replacement as my last brush was starting to fall apart and break my hair.What you get: The brush arrives in a very nice, antique style box. The brush appears exactly as in the photos. The nylon bristle tufts are graduated in length and gentle to the skin, yet are firm and get to the scalp at the same time. There is another small, black square brush included that is intended to be used to clean the white brush of hair (a brush for a brush? Who knew?). Last but not least are instructions on the care and use of your brush.Pros: Detangles my hair in just a few strokes, cut my styling time. Easy cleanup and maintenance (the little brush does a great job of getting all the hair out of the white brush). Feels solid to the touch and the old fashioned look of the brush has a nice aesthetic charm. I've had mine for about a month and no bristle loss.Cons: There are a lot of warnings in the box about protecting the red rubber from excessive sunlight, chemicals, grease, oil, radioactive waste (just kidding!). If you have any of those things in your styling environment, this brush may not live as long for you. Also, this brush cannot be submerged in water due to it's design.Overall impression: Cute, solid little detangling brush. Does a good job at what it's supposed to do on my fine hair. Just be careful if you have lots of stuff in your environment that might eat the rubber pad away.
