My 7-year-old son just got this a couple of weeks ago. He was able to build it almost completely by himself. Normally all of our lego sets get quickly absorbed into our giant container of legos, but this boat and the little side boat are still intact. He plays with it often. It also stays together, unlike some other sets, so he doesn't get frustrated with constantly having to rebuild it during play.
