These are a very fine set of chisels. The handle looks a little funky until you start handling them. Wow! I added a micro edge and found the blades are ground almost perfect. I am very impressed with these.

By William J. Connelly
I had some reservations spending this kind of money on a set of chisels. I have spent forty plus years wood working and my previous logic was buy a cheap set, beat the snot out of them, sharpen on a grinder and beat them some more, then replace. So my reservations was more about how I treat a tool like this than the tool itself. I am very pleased with my decision to buy these chisels. I love them and they are always sharp and of very high quality.

By J. Eugster
I've had this set of chisels for many years and when I first got them, flattened the backs for about 2-3 inches, that helped a lot. I started to notice that I seemed to spend lots of time sharpening and maintaining the edge. At the factory angle of 25 degrees it seemed the edge deteriorated quickly. Although I don't usually incorporate a micro bevel I experimented with it on these but no appreciable difference. I reground all of the angles to 30 degrees and the cut is much better and the edge lasts longer. I primarily use them for general bench work and cutting dovetails. I sharpen with water stones only (Norton) and believe in Ron Hock's method of the sharpest edge is two surfaces coming together without a micro bevel. If you have these chisels and feel you're sharpening too much, try changing your angle to 30 degrees and see if that improves them for you too.
