Product Description

The rapid results produced by pressure cookers (a whole chicken in 20 minutes, cubed potatoes in a mere five minutes) make them a favorite among time-pressed chefs. This Splendid 2-in-1 system--which includes 4- and 6-quart pots (one deep and one shallow), a pressure cooker lid that fits both containers, a tempered glass lid, a steamer basket, and a recipe book--lives up to the billing admirably, offering such features as a visual pressure indicator, an automatic pressure release (which lets the chef release pressure without running the device under cold water), and a triple lock safety system that keeps users from inadvertently burning themselves. The Splendid pots are constructed of durable 18/10 stainless steel with aluminum-clad bottoms for superior heat conduction.

To use one of the pots, merely seal the food and liquids with the airtight lid, and then place the pressure cooker on a stove burner. The unit will bring the internal temperature up to 250 degrees F, building up pressurized steam that begins to quickly break down the fibers in the food. The method preserves the food's inherent vitamins, minerals, flavors, and aromas, while keeping it moist and succulent. Chefs who want to use the pots for traditional stovetop cooking will appreciate the glass lid, which seals tightly over the rims to trap moisture while letting users monitor the food's progress. The stainless-steel steamer basket fulfills another favorite function, holding vegetables such as broccoli or carrots over steaming water or serving as a colander insert for pasta. For added convenience, the 2-in-1 set comes with an instruction manual and recipe book. All Fagor pressure cookers carry a 10-year warranty.

What's in the Box:
4-quart pot, 6-quart pot, pressure cooker lid (fits both pots), tempered glass lid, pasta/steamer basket insert, recipe book, user's manual.

3Fagor Splendid advantages and disadvantages
By K. Nicholes
.....I am a longtime cook, skilled with old aluminum Presto pressure cookers. I received the Fagor Splendid 2-in-1 cooker as a requested gift about 3 years ago. My biggest complaint after a couple years of use was the fancy V-cross-section gasket, which stopped sealing properly after about a year of use, and is pricey to replace. 2009 update: Fagor has switched to a much longer lasting grey gasket (the early ones were turquoise) that seals better. I bought one a couple of years ago and it is still going strong......I hardly use the shallower pan from this set, but the deep pan is wonderfully useful. It's stainless steel, not aluminum, so I don't worry about aluminum getting into the food. It's got a nice heavy bottom, and so is good for deepfrying and popping popcorn as well as pressure cooking. The tall capacity is nice, I can parboil a whole chicken before roasting it, without clogging the vent......The complex safety features are kinda tricky to wash, but this is definitely a useful pan; it does a great job of hurry-up cooking. I am at a mile altitude, so a pressure cooker really is needed frequently in my kitchen......Happy cooking, friend, I hope this info helps.

4Works great, even for beginners
By B. Peters
This is my first pressure cooker and it works just fine. I had read a million reviews before finally purchasing one and was a little nervous about all the details and such but I didn't need to be. This is pretty idiot-proof...just put in the food and water, twist on the top, flip the lock and you're good to go!Sure, you do need to check the steam output and lower the heat once it really starts going, but I have found that the worst thing that happens if you don't is that you get a little bit of stuff on the top of the pan as the steam rushes out really fast...nothing you can't just clean off. Also, despite the manual saying to not put in dishwasher, I always do (aside from the gasket) and have had no probs after 4 months.

5Ideal sizes, saves more time than energy
By B. Montgomery
I'm very happy with my pressure cookers, purchased a few months ago. I agonized over whether to purchase the 4 quart or 6 quart model, as I wanted both to be able to cook small amounts (e.g. 2 cups of rice) for small meals and larger amounts for dinner parties. This combination set is perfect, as it allows me to do both, without buying two lids and gaskets, and for considerably less than the cost of buying the two separately. I've made batches of beans and grains in the 4-quart pot, and a variety of soups in the 6 quart pot. It's also been great for cooking winter squash in just a few minutes. The pressure cooker is easy to use and easy to clean (& I'm new to pressure cooking), and thus far the gasket has sealed with relative ease. The steaming basket and flimsy trivet aren't ideal, but this is a minor complaint. I had hoped to save on my energy bill by pressure cooking - since food cooks in a fraction of the time, it should only use a fraction of the electricity / gas. I can't say that I've noticed any changes to my electric bill though, because it turns out that energy use for cooking is a relatively small part of overall energy use. According to Natural Resources Canada (from whom information happened to be conveniently available) the average household with an electric stove uses about 775 KWH (kilowatt hours) of electricity for the stove per year. At $0.12 per KWH, that would amount to about $95. Fagor claims that a pressure cooker reduces energy use by 70%. Assuming that you'll actually pressure cook one-fourth of what you cook on a stove-top that would mean that your average yearly savings would be $95*1/4*0.70, or about $17. Given that the pressure cooker set costs currently about $120, that means it would take about 7 years to recoup your investment in terms of energy savings (this would change a bit if you take into account that in winter the extra heat from cooking helps to heat the house, and in summer you have to pay twice, once to heat the stove and once to re-cool the kitchen). If you buy a new gasket every couple of years, it come out nearly even. In conclusion, my pressure cookers have allowed me to eat more healthy foods - whole grains, legumes and winter squashes - without spending all day cooking. For that it's a good investment, but not so much to save energy.

5Full featured phone
By Gary P. Tanski
A real nice cordless phone. A good display with lots of easy to use features. I would have liked the display to be a little brighter but it still is way better than the vtech it's replacing. It's the little brother of the number one multi handset unit as rated by Consumer Reports. So far, the sound has been crystal clear on all calls. I really like the speakerphone in the handset. I also like getting messages via the handset. The digital AND analog clock in the handset display is great when you're out in the yard and forgot your watch.

3AT&T cordless phone
By James R. Bristow
OK. Nothing special. The worst thing that ever happened in my life was the 'busting up' of Ma Bell. We are stuck with stuff like this now.

5LOVE this phone
By Lesley Billings
I had one of these phones that I bought two years ago. No troubles with it at all, and it has out lived most of the other cordlesses we've owned. Then we got a really big puppy. Need I say more? I needed a new handset, but unfortunately, this phone was discontinued. I was so delighted to find it from this supplier! When it arrived and I unpacked it, to my dismay it did not have the number buttons on the desk unit. I phoned the supplier to send it back, but he offered me a credit and we've combined phones and made it work. All happy.

4Excellent choice
By Paul F. Paulsen
We use the ATT E2562 Expandable base with a full compliment of 8 extra handsets. We use them in conjunction with our Vonage internet phone service which has two lines. The range is very good ... it goes all over the house and even into the neighbor's yard. It works great and gives us a lot of flexibility in putting phones where we want them.

5I love these phones
By Paul F. Aubin
I needed a two-line phone for my home / home office. I looked at a lot of phones, and while none were "perfect" for what I wanted this one is close. I wanted two lines, a base station, and expandible handsets. This phone has all of that. The only thing I didn't need was the answering machine. I use Phone Co. Voice Mail. I wish this phone would tell me that I had messages in the VM, but it doesn't unless you use its built in answering machine. (The SBC phone did show a light when there was VM, but it was not a two line phone).Running a home office, I can't tell you the convienience of being able to answer the office line anywhere in the house with the push of an "L2" button. This is my favorite feature. You can even make L2 ring differently. (I only wish that the settings like saved phone numbers, ring tones, and caller ID were syncrohinzed on all handsets - you have to set them separately).Overall, great phone system! I just bought another extension. I am up to 5 now plus the base!

5Perfect for the small home office
By systemizer
Bought this for my wife's real estate business (at the home.) AT&T knows their business, and it is phones. We have a seperate voicemail system, so if this unit's problems are insurmountable for you, look elsewhere.Great buttons that did not break like the V-tech unit we had before. Those buttons wore out into mushy oblivion.
